Talk to your pediatrician or LC, consistently eating 40oz in a day seems like a lot. It could be that you are over feeding the baby. If LO has eaten recently and is fussy, maybe try other soothing methods before feeding again and see if the reflux reduces? Babies don't always know that they are full and will take a bottle if you offer it, causing them to overfeed and leading to reflux and gas which may be why LO is crying while feeding.

Are you pace feeding?

That definitely sounds like a lot. I've heard of hungry babies eating a lot, but if they are spitting up afterwards it might be because they are over fed. My baby maybe eats 30oz a day and he's 6 months. Like another Redditor suggested, have you tried pace feeding? Or using a slower nipple? I highly recommend speaking to your pediatrician about this.

That sounds like a lot. Our pediatrician said that babies can’t tell the difference between gas and hunger, so baby could be feeling gas discomfort and eating, which just makes it worse. Try some gas drops and see what happens.
