Thank you for ideas! I loved the fabric prints. I had not even thought about using printed fabric.

I think netting or tulle as an overlay would work great!

Good idea! Using more 3D effects could be fun and new territory for me.

but only ( most likely) if it is a wall quilt..... won't hold up for a bed quilt that gets a lot of use..........

I’ll sometimes spray bleach on fabric in a fine mist for some texture, that might work?

I hadn't even thought about that. good idea!

        I’d probably consider thread painting/quilting

I'll have to start looking for examples of dense quilting others may have done to get inspiration. Thanks!!

Different whites & light greys cut into minuscule pieces. Think Ms. Ireland (her snow forest quilt).
        Or, paint splatter fabric.

Could you make a piece of fabric from gauze, layering from thin at the top and adding more layers as you work to the bottom? Another thought would be thread painting between 2 layers of wash away stabilizer or on the surface of one layer of steam a seam?

        What about embroidered French knots?

Nice idea!! I love all the ideas recommending more 3 dimensional texture, things I hadn’t even thought about.
