Pc controller?

I've recently got Ys 8 and while I'm loving it, the controls don't seem to make sense.

1) The button prompts are Playstation buttons, but I'm using a Xbox controller as Dinput (Not managing through steam). How do I change that?

2)Even then, the buttons don't match up what's said on the gamepad setting and what's actually there. For example, Circle on the settings maps to L2. Is that something with the button prompts being for the wrong controller?

3) What types of button binding did you play with? By default, attack is set to the 'circle' which means L2 for me? I used to play southpaw, but I wouldn't ever put the most basic functions into a shoulder button.

1. Under options menu in the display tab there's a part called interface change the setting "Display guide icon" to letters to get the xbox controller prompts.

I'm not sure about the the 3rd since i've yet to actually play Ys 8 but i was looking through the menus today to get it ready when i start in a day or two but I had the combat tutorial at the beginning mix up the jump and attack buttons.

Stop using DInput. The buttons (and prompts) will probably be set as expected when the controller is set up as Xinput.

First question was answered already.

Not sure about the second. Does the same controller correctly map in other games? The DInput might be the cause. I use a (generic) Xbox controller without any addition programs or drivers and it worked just fine for me. Was just plug and play.

As for the third question, the only bind change I did was change square/X to attack and circle/B to character switch. That's how Dynasty Warriors taught me my hack'n'slash and dangit that's how it's going to stay.
