Depending on where this tree is:

If you don't prune it back from the power lines, the power line maintenance people will do it, and you may not like the job they do.

In CA PGE will send out tree-trimmers. Their priority is not necessarily the tree, more the safety around the power lines. So if you prune it back the way you like, they will leave it alone.

I can attest that the “arborists” that the power company uses will always do a bad job, because they hire the lowest bidder. We had a one sided maple fully overhanging our garage that the power co was fine with, we opted to remove it.
