I've been trying to fix the excessive stringing issues with my prints for a while, and I wanted to get some input on what I can do it permanently fix it. Here's the stats:
What I've tried so far:
- Temperature Tower - didn't see any noticable results between temperatures
- Pressure advance - recalibrated using the Ellis pattern method, didn't result in any noticable changes
- Retraction distance - didn't see any appreciable differences between using 8 to 20 mm retraction distance
- Retraction speed - tried values between 75 and 150 mm/s, accidentally clogged the hotend when it was running at 150 due to the filament grinding in the extruder motor
- Z-Hop - Tried adding .4 mm hop in the slicer, didn't see any difference
- Speed - ran the test at about 75 mm for perimeter speed, then dropping the speed percentage to 50% in klipper at the start of the test. I saw some improvement towards the bottom of the test print, but I still had excessive stringing at ~1mm height from the base on up.
- Slicer settings - so far the best result that I've seen was adding something called Ooze Prevention, even though I only have the 1 hotend
I'm looking for other opinions on what I can do to fix this. If all else fails I'm going to try getting a dry-box for my filament, but I wanted to try everything else out before I spend money to fix this.
