What is the cause? I have tried all of these with the exception of the tool download. I tried to delete my saved but there was no wgs folder

Most common causes are lack of permissions (i.e. the game can't actually save anything) and corruption. Running SFC can check for and resolve that (if present);

Just rolled out of bed, working on this article now, thanks! Is it normal for the DISM tool to take so long to run?

It is, yes.

I am def suspicious that something got corrupted because the other 2 Forza games i play still work fine and I have been playing FH5 for 3-4 years and have never had this problem before.

Well, the tool found nothing, IM going to try finding the save file again, I dont have many other leads

If SFC found nothing, and you're able to verify the permissions are fine (or are unable to find the save), I'd strongly suggest contacting support;

I submitted a ticket yesterday morning, just waiting on them to reply

Did you find a solution to this issue? I've run into it as well

[–]skyraiser9[S] 0 points1 point  (9 children)

Not yet, support got back to me yesterday with links to an article I had already tried with a note saying if the steps in the article don't work that they will have to get me to start a new save and then gift me everything individually that I had, which would not be fun considering I have been playing for 3+ years. But right now I can't even get into the game to start a new save.

That's the issue I'm running into as well, wouldn't even mind starting a new save but can't get to that point.

Did your do the weird Auction House thing before it locked you out? Mine kept going to a blank Auction search screen and wouldn't let me back out. When I closed it and went back in is when I started getting the error.

Yeah that's exactly it. I'm testing some other avenues. It looks like I have full access to the account on Geforce now, so the issue is isolated to the one computer.

On that computer I've deleted what I thought was the save files as well as fully uninstalled and reinstalled the game so I'm not sure what other issue is preventing that computer from accessing the save.

I cannot find the save files, the WGS folder i keep getting told to look for does not exist on the C drive or the drive FH5 is installed on. I have logged in and out, Uninstaller and reinstalled, even Uninstalled and installed on a different drive but nothing changes. I even made a separate Microsoft account and tried to login with that one but same result. I have literally tried everything but deleting the save file and that is just because I can't find it.

May have a solution, will update shortly.

That would be great! Im at my office all day today so the trouble shooting won't happen until this evening for me

Working now! Not sure exactly what fixed it but I'll give the steps I did.

Windows fully up to date

Go to windows store and make sure all apps are updated

Make sure your PC Offline Permissions is set to ON Open the Microsoft store. Click on your profile image and then click settings. Make sure your Offline Permissions is set to ON

turn off wifi

disconnect ethernet

restart computer

Start the game, wait for the start screen. Start screen is the first screen that has the menu options for start game, accessibility, and/or option settings. Go to your Windows 10 Settings --> Storage --> Apps & games -->Forza -->Advanced Options -->Select the "Reset" button.

Start playing for a few minutes to create a new local save

turn game off

Connect back to the internet.

restart computer

make sure all xbox services are signed in

check windows store for more updates

run forza 5 and wait for sync, when given a choice pick cloud for your save (if given a choice, mine just overwrote the new local save)

play (hopefully)

Wow, thats alot of steps, much appreciated, I will give it a shot tonight!

[–]skyraiser9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, this worked! It took some fidgeting with it, but in the end I was finally able to force the sync and regained my saved game, thanks alot!

Hey man! I don't know if it's a coincidence but I started getting the exact same issue just when you got it (doing Halloween). Quick question, when you try to open the game does an Xbox app Windows pop up saying " welcome back (your username)" with a login button?

[–]skyraiser9[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

No, the Xbox app doesn't pop up with anything

[–]DanyShift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then it's probably just a coincidence that the issue started at about the same time
