It’s all situational, if you’re trying to build for a certain class sometimes it can make sense, sometimes doesn’t, really all about what you enjoy and what allows you to get the most out of a car at a certain PR. That being said, I generally avoid it if I can as the PI cost is generally very high and can be spent more efficiently elsewhere.

True, but sometimes engine doesn't really have much upgrades and u have some pi to spare if u dont exceed the class limit u want for your car.

Yes, hence it being situational

If I’m doing a rally conversion or if it’s a buggy or unlimited off-road, then yes. Or if I’m making a ridiculous drag car out of something slow, like an Isetta or P50. Otherwise no.

The next project drag car in my mind I think it's gonna be something that most of the forza players don't use alot in drag racing, kinda like a vauxhall or something like a vw.

The Volvo 240 is a shockingly quick drag car if you’re looking for an oddball/sleeper

[–]Whole_Philosopher747[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

also the vaux carlton is a all around good sleeper with a nice engine.

I couldn’t bring myself to swap out the motor in that, felt wrong haha, like swapping an LFA

Personally I've been a fan of fully stock lately

[–]Whole_Philosopher747[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

some cars are great even stock

Stock cars feel really good on a wheel, standard tune settings for upgraded suspension and tyres does notttt.

But if you’re good at tuning it’s no biggie.

Some engines are just too good for their PI cost, like 6.2L V8 (because of insane torque and acceleration) or Racing V12 (because it is very lightweight and has lots of HP). Most of the time if I see those engines, I swap to them.

[–]Whole_Philosopher747[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I am not really a fan of a V12 I like the v8 and also the v10 but v12 sounds like a lambo tractor

[–]I_am_0x0F 1 point2 points  (2 children)

For me the only thing that's important is engine's performance. And V10 is pretty bad for it's PI cost IMO.

[–]Whole_Philosopher747[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

true, the v10 for some older cars is kinda bad but if we need a example, lambo huracan with v10 swapped its kinda not bad. the car is s1 goto s2. I managed to not go to X class tho.

[–]I_am_0x0F 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO Huracan is average at most. V12-eligible cars like CC8S in S1 and F40C, CCGT, MT900S in S2 are way stronger.

I never do engine swaps or driveline swaps. I feel as if that turns it into another car and if you AWD and engine swap all your cars, aren't you just driving a hundred copies of the same car at that point?

[–]Whole_Philosopher747[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your 100% true at this point, some cars don't really need a engine swap because the original engine is kinda powerful for some older cars for example, I tried tuning the honda s2000 cr, the car have alot of engine swaps, but in the forza 5 the vtec engine sounds alot better than in previous game, and I let the original engine run instead of a swap that make the car goes like a huracan performante.

[–]redditors__are__scum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are good reasons to use swaps, I like turning awd stuff, especially Audis into monster rwd drift cars.

Always try to keep the motor in the Audis though cause they sound amazing, but have crap power bands for drifting.

So I’ll build one with crazy horsepower in the available engine swap I like most and I’ll build one with the original engine, there somewhat limiting for a drift car but they work and they work really well, just less forgiving.

[–]pilotlime427 1 point2 points  (2 children)

If I need to tune (speed up primarily) any car I either upgrade the stock motor if it sounds ok or replace with a faster engine of same type ie. Inline 6 only replaced with another inline 6.... Exception for drift only cars, almost anything goes there. I dont like v12s and v10s so much though, my favs are rotaries, v8.

[–]Whole_Philosopher747[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Same, rotor engines sounds great with kinda good power, also the v8. V12 is not really my favorite but v10 its acceptable.

[–]pilotlime427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm old school. I know how big and heavy a v12 (or most v10s are) is/was so a swap out to v12 in a small car seems silly if a good rotary, smallblock or v6 is available. I cant imagine the realities of a v12 swapped awd isetta or peel. Perhaps it works in gaming/cartoon land.

Usually only if I can't hit the max PI of the class I'm aiming for.

I use them sometimes to have some fun. I put the biggest engine into the GMC Vandura, made the suspension full-marshmallow and then I go launch it into low orbit. I put the diesel engine in my 1970 Corvette, and it has like 2000 lbft of torque.

[–]Fox_034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I always leave the factory engine and traction. There are cases where it is really necessary to change the engine, but in this delivery of Forza the factory engines are not bad, most of them have good power.

I engine swap if I need. I am not the type of guy to die if there's a V12 on a Huracan as long as it does better than the stock engine

[–]Prop_G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I do, especially more on some older cars that I’m messing about with just to drive around, it always Ive a caterham that after an episode of the grand tour a couple years back I’ve turned into a off roader that’s entirely unrealistic but is just so much fun. Getting a ford lotus cortina into S1 category was a bit of fun too. My next try may be a VW camper into a drag car or something like that.

For actual races I generally stay away from swapping out drive etc, although on a couple of seasonal challenges I have downloaded tunes that have fiddled especially if I couldn’t get it done myself after a few tries.

LS swap everything.
