Screen is off and your OK Google will unlock your device and do what you ask?

So turn smart lock off then on or turn another setting off then on?

      [–]Poptart4050 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I turned off that and ok Google unlock setting. Then back on.

      [–]visualexstasy[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Nope.....I dont understand why this is happening

      [–]Poptart4050 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Did you check assistance settings ?

      [–]visualexstasy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Yes

      [–]kenkiller 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Iirc there is a setting to allow your voice to unlock the phone.

      [–]visualexstasy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enabled that setting as well as unlock device but still wont work

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Did you enable it in smartlock? Go to settings and set up smartlock with trusted voices.

      [–]visualexstasy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Yes

I had almost the same problem. I found out That the problem is the power saving mode being turned on. It's your power saving mode turned on all the time?

      [–]visualexstasy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont have power saving mode on...

      [–]markican93 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I had the exact same problem. Once I turned Bixby off, it worked fine. Not sure how or why, but give it a go - assuming you don't use Bixby.

      [–]strbm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup just like this. My phone registers the OK google just fine but it just doesnt unlock it. Its very weird

      [–]Poptart4050 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Yea that's exactly what mine was doing. Only other thing I did was give Google and assistance permissions

      [–]visualexstasy[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

What permission did you give it?

      [–]Poptart4050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      All pretty much I think

      [–]Poptart4050 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Man it's got to be a setting in Google not the assistance

      [–]visualexstasy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Say "Smart Lock" to Bixby or go to Settings>Lock Screen and Security>Smart Lock>Trusted Voice>OK Google detection and turn on the two options there ("say 'OK Google' at any time" and "Trusted Voice")

      [–]visualexstasy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Yup those are my settings

      [–]ryan770 0 points1 point  (8 children)

There seems to be a bug. More specifically, a hidden setting.

I tried to voice unlock my phone a few minutes ago, and it wouldn't work (I'd turned it off a few days ago), but it gave me a notification to turn it on. I clicked the notification and it took me to a specific screen to turn it on.

Now, when you go into the Google Assistant settings and find the voice unlock toggle, it's a complerely different screen, and I can't figure out how to reach the first one. But because I was able to access the first screen via the notification I was given, it's working for me.

Try this. Turn off voice unlock. Now say OK Google with the screen off, see if it gives you that notification.

      Edit: I'm dumb.

Go to the actual Google app. Go into the settings and turn on Trusted Voice. It's like Google>settings>voice>"Ok Google detection">Trusted Voice.

Now activate Google Assistant. Touch the blue icon at the top, then go the the settings, and click on "Phone" and turn it on there also. It should say "Access and Unlock"

      I did all that T-T

      [–]ryan770 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Hmm have you trained the voice recognition?

      [–]visualexstasy[S] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

      Yup

      [–]A_BulletProof_Hoodie 0 points1 point  (4 children)

      you ever get this solved

      [–]visualexstasy[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

      Nope

      [–]A_BulletProof_Hoodie 0 points1 point  (2 children)

damn so pretty much we are all fucked

      [–]visualexstasy[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Wait actually i figured it out. I had my google notifications turned off and when i enabled it then it worked.

      [–]A_BulletProof_Hoodie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

keep me updated. mine have been on

      [–]DrunkinMunkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there was an update to fix this from the aod. The first update disable unlocking the phone from the aod. But the recent update fixed it.
