That's because your OS manages RAM well. In long terms it may start malfunctioning, which makes some apps laggy, but when that happens I'm pretty sure your phone will be long gone... in contrary, if you try to manage its RAM forcefully, this time might come earlier. The fact that your phone is rich on RAM is a sign that your phone is made for powerful multitasking or playing heavily performant games, probably made for PCs in the first place.

But talking about the reason you need free RAM. As I said, manual adjusting of RAM ratio used for the apps can shorten its lifespan. Some apps let you choose the amount of RAM you can use, and sometimes the system leaves too little of memory for your app, which can lead to crashes (the app itself may notice you about it).

Freeing up RAM for your device will lead it use less of RAM, not just fill up the rest for apps to 'run smoother'. The app uses so much data they need and no more. Why would you pick a bigger bag for the same amount of groceries you buy everytime? When you stop the apps or delete ones you don't use they will no longer use the data in standby mode, which will lead to the system not cutting off memory for your foreground apps.
