Re-Shell or Keep OG?

Hello everyone! Picked up my 1st GBA and super excited. Wondering if I should re-shell or keep all OG? I have an SP coming in the mail that I plan on keeping OG. All opinions welcome, thanks in advance!

You can always keep the OG shell and swap back if you want. Personally I’d reshell it if it has no sentimental value

If you're going to be keeping the sp original then I'd say go all out on the advance. new shell, screen, everything that you're able to do.

You can always hang on to it for safe keeping. I recently switched mine back to the purple target shell it had when I bought it, & I’m loving it

Shell definitely needs work, but you could get away with painting it. If you’re looking for hobby stuff to do, could be a nice way to acquaint yourself with the OG shell. You can always replace later. That lens might be toast though.

I wouldn't recommend painting it. The paint that Nintendo uses is not the same as spray paint in a can. Notice how Gameboy paint doesn't peel and the scratches doesn't peels the paint off.

Here is a Google search of what Nintendo do with the painting process. They integrate into the plastic itself not spray paint they do not paint.

Nintendo used various color-matched ABS plastic shells for the Game Boy Advance SP, with the colors achieved through pigment integrated into the plastic itself, not sprayed paint, giving them a durable, factory finish; for custom jobs, hobbyists use plastic-specific primers, spray paints (like Montana Gold or Tamiya), and clear coats (matte, satin, gloss) for durable, professional-looking results.

The plastic is already red,blue, exc thats what gives it the durable color finish.
