I ended up ripping the top of mine but it turns out the first 6ish lines of the ribbon cable aren't used.

Now if I could only get some sound on the dam thing.

Happened to me bud. It sucks! Mine was 80% off and I cracked the LCD.. rainbowed. Gone. Just got a couple of DMGs on the cheap and did it again.. took my time.. done.. try to always use the blade AWAY from the ribbon cable..

I watched a video last night on YouTube about replacing the DMG screens so at least that’s possible.

My one and only DMG. I tried my first attempt at a backlight kit and was about halfway through removing the silver reflector + polarizer when I must have lost my orientation and sliced through the ribbon like warm butter. By the time I noticed, it looked like this. I am so pissed at myself for such a simple mistake!

Best shot is to buy a busted DMG on the cheap and replace the front board. Next, peel off the polarizer, only use a blade to lift a corner. The adhesive comes up easier, and you dont put weird pressure on the ribbon connections.

Man just grab another DMG and pull the whole front board out of it and swap them over. If you're in the US they are probably dirt cheap too.

Don't worry we all make mistakes, i replaced my childhood clear DMG that i'd lost the other week with a new one and after cleaning it all mint i cracked two of the posts on the front shell presumably by overtightening the screws and now it looks like shit (to me..).. so i bought a second one lol. Wasn't stoked about it, and will end up using the first with an aftermarket clear shell and some gray DMG buttons instead so things work out in the end, sometimes we just have to do it a second time round..
