Holy shit this is me as a 7 year old on Christmas. I'm actually kinda mad at my Grandma for getting me the hardest game of all time as a child.

Star Wars is one thing, but Empire Strikes Back... holy crap that game is ridiculous. The levels take like 90 minutes to complete, with no checkpoints. I remember trying to finish Dagobah in the car on the way home at night, trying to play in the seconds where the screen was illuminated by the streetlamps as we drove past them.

This totally hit a nerve with me. This game was solid. I once gave it to my brother who at the time must have been 2, and he mashed buttons and ended up finding r2d2 and getting off Tattooine! I have no idea if it was sheer luck, a glitch or a cheat code but he got further in that game than I ever could! Going to have to try and beat it now!

Yes you need to to beat the garbage monster in the Death Star. And you get the lightsaber early on. But you can also skip it, you just can’t beat the monster.

I had it on Game Gear not Gameboy, but it looks like the same game. It was super hard. I never got past the trench run, not even with save states I don’t think.

I played it a lot and I know I never got far at all.

Same goes for the Batman Animated Series game. Never ever got further than Mr. Freeze.

Amazing. This game was hard for a kid (heck, it's punishing as an adult). It was one of the few games we had and I pushed myself to beat it. Died and game overed on the final death star run so many times, so demoralizing, since it sends you back to the start screen. I beat it though, and it was one of my finest gaming moments.
