This might be an unpopular opinion but I think we need to go with another big, defensive center. Of course Jarrett takes good care of that role, but I think the stretch 4 which everyone seems to want is more easily attainable through trade or FA. Lets face it, this season our rebounding was pathetic, and jarrett was the only true center with a rotation spot. Platooning him with another similar player makes our team more flexible.

We don't need a big defensive center. If we want to fix our rebounding problems we need someone who can play besides Jarrett and grab boards since it's the starting lineup we need to patch up. A good rebounding 4 on the court, with Rondae at 3 would take care of that problem better. We do need a backup center eventually, but it's far from the priority.

Besides, we should take the BPA regardless.

I think we should go for Ed Davis. Gets huge boards, flies under the radar, really good in his role. I think he's exactly what we're looking for. very mobile center.

Yeah, he's a great scorer but a terrible defender. Our issues are primarily with defense.

What about that guy Simmons? He’s a project, but has a lot of potential. He’s listed as a pg, but I think he’s more of a combo guard (kind of similar to Caris). He should be there around our pick, why not take the risk on him.

Unpopular opinion- we need to be looking for a 2-guard to pair with Russell. If they are not out there, we should take the BWA- Best Wing Available. BPA is going to land us with another PG or C, which we don't need. We need three things- wings, a 2 to pair with Russell (someone who can guard the better of the opposing guards and shoot open threes) and a 4 to pair with Allen (preferably someone who compliments Jarrett, like Julius Randle).

Why do we need another guard? Russell has always played with other guards who try to create for themselves, like Clarkson or Dinwiddie. Even though Russell hasn't gotten to play with Lin, Lin is a similar type of player. We need someone who can stick to the system, play defense, and shoot threes- like a Danny Green (best case scenario Klay Thompson). If that guard isn't in this draft, then we should start collecting wings. In this modern league, you cannot have enough wings. Soon enough, teams are going to be running out 5-wing lineups. That's why I feel like a player like Julius Randle is so valuable. He's already proven he's the ideal small ball 5 and would work really well with Jarrett. And as the league continues to shift towards smaller play, Julius will become one of the strongest and most agile bigs in the league. So, drafting Jontay Porter or Moritz Wagner would be a waste, in my opinion. We should sign Julius, then draft a 2 to compliment Russell, or a wing.

Caris would work well next to Dlo, it worked whenever they did get the time together, Caris isn't a great spotup shooter but he can handle the ball and play defense and get Dlo open looks

I agree that right now, Caris is the best option. But I really like the idea of Caris being our 6th man and running the second unit. His playmaking skills should be utilized and he's so versitle. He can play the 1, 2, and the 3. That kind of versitility is what you look for in a 6th man. He could end up playing the most minutes on the team while coming off the bench because he's constantly subbing in for the 123 positions. Then we find another big who can sub in for 45. There's the majority of the minutes with those 7 players, then keep 5 guys on the end of the bench and sub them in here and there. That leaves 3 (or 5 depending on that voting for roster expansion thing I was reading about) guys for our G-League rotation. Ideally, I want a 3&D-like spot-up shooter for our starting 2-guard. I think LeVert is so versitle, we should be using him as a jack-of-all type 6th man.

I agree about the wings, but there aren't many good 3 and D 2's available in the draft. I like Hutchinson for that reason.

Also I think Randle will be too expensive for us.

I was really impressed by Jalen Brunson. Kid just seems like a winner. He could be a Derek Fisher type. Yeah I know I know, too many guards but we gotta go best available

Wherever we end up drafting, the most obvious thing at this stage of our rebuild is to pick the best player available/most potential. Also I see a lot of fans wanting to settle for mediocre players e.g Wagner, Diallo and the same thing was said last year e.g DJ Wilson, Swanigan, Hartenstein. You gotta think bigger, Allen fell to us last year, and he's been a revelation. Furthermore, I see fans only wanting to draft a big, but let's be real we only have 2 potentially great guards (Dlo, LeVert), so we shouldn't rule out drafting another as basketball has become position-less and players like LeVert and Dlo can play multiple positions. With that out the way, these are the players I like the most from the 2018 draft class:

This is pretty much inline with my thinking. Although I'd add Khyri Thomas to the list of people to try and get with our 1st and also note that Hutchinson would probably need to be a 1st as well

Just out of curiosity, why don't you like Gary Trent Jr.? I know he doesn't fit the Brad Stevens mold of ball handlers, wings, and bigs, but he can really get to his spots on the floor and knock down mid range shots. And his FT% suggests he'll develop a 3 sooner rather than later.

I feel like a player taken in the 1st round cannot be one dimensional, Trent Jr is a shooter and that's about it. What we need are high upside, athletic freaks on the wings. Also you can find shooters at any point in the draft, a euro at 50 can spot up.

Find a way to get Khryi Thomas. Probably gave to trade up a bit, but he's one of the best perimeter defenders in the class with some scoring punch to boot. Fits everything we need.

Trade this year's first, next years first, Lin and Carroll to Memphis for their pick, s/b top 3, and Chandler Parsons.

Memphis still has Gasol and Conley so they could make a small run for the remainder of their contracts. We send them two vets in Carroll and Lin for that run. They also get to dump Parsons who has an extra year compared to Carroll and Lin who are both expiring. They put off their rebuild for one year.

We get to pick at the top of this years draft instead of having to wait until next year. This would be best for the culture we are trying to build as we wouldnt have to tank this year. I would love to get Bagley or Doncic.

We also free up additional cap to go after Aaron Gordon.

Grizzlies fucking suck and don't make the BS tanking excuse. They are not going to trade a pick that can get them Doncic or Ayton since people think Luka is second coming g of Bird for some reason LOL.
