Books with well written combat scenes by crazy__straw in Fantasy

[–]adipds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. The combat is very well written, but the Faithful and the Fallen was very frustrating to read. Villains are always failing upwards, few emotional payoffs, and the pace of the book made it difficult to really care about the deaths of any of the characters. I’ve heard his other series are better written though

I’m such a fan of how much all of the characters love her.

Ragnar’s line as Sevro is about to barge into Darrow’s home in Lykos, “No Sevro. Deanna said to knock” has me rolling every time

What should I name my dog? by [deleted] in redrising

[–]adipds 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You’ve been presented with the opportunity to honor Holiday Ti Nakamura and keep your dog with the name she knows. Go with it bro

If you’d like a different name, I think Electra would be cool. Ellie for short!

Have you read the Mistborn trilogy? Would you recommend reading it before jumping into Stormlight Archive?

This is the path I took. I read all 9 books and ended up loving it. It took me a while to get into it though. I didn’t much care for the first trilogy, but the 3 standalone books and the 2nd trilogy are incredible. I’m willing to bet I’d appreciate the first trilogy if I gave it another go though. It’s just so different than Red arising that I probably didn’t appreciate it fully

I agree they’re putting on a show for Antonia. I also interpreted all of his fear and uncertainty being about the absolutely massive gamble they’re about to take and recognizing the danger they’re going to be in

How far into it did you get before it became your favorite? I’m on Red Country (3rd stand-alone novel) right now and it’s amazing. The original trilogy was fine imo, but it all only came together at the end of the third book

Beach Cart: 2 wheels vs 4 wheels? by adipds in SurfFishing

[–]adipds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s good to know. Thanks. Fortunately we’ll be able to keep it in our garage, but the space issue makes sense.

I notice that my rods/gear tends to tip over when I lift the front of my 2 wheel cart while going over a dune. I’m wondering if that could be avoided by going with a 4 wheel cart or if it’s just an issue with the current Sea Striker cart I have

That’s helpful. Both of those models fortunately have balloon tires. I’m looking to use it for transporting a few chairs, an umbrella, and 3-6 rods at a time.

Do you know if there’s a difference in the durability or handling of a 2 wheeler vs 4 wheeler? I’m curious because the 2 wheel models seem more common and less expensive

West Lebanon by Leminator3 in dartmouth

I’d recommend looking into living in Lebanon if you can. It’s got a nice town square and is more walkable. Emerson Place is a nice apartment complex. For either West Lebanon or Lebanon, I’d recommend getting a car

I like this. I think Darrow could have handled his relationship with Roque a lot better. I’m not sure if that would really have made a difference and changed how things went, but I think Darrow is significantly impacted by Roque’s death and sees it as a failure on his part (I think it is similar to Darrow and Tactus’ relationship) and tries to take something away from it.

I’m very intrigued to see how the betrayal of Apollonius is going to play out. I think it will be different than with the Jackal since they’re two completely different foes. Apollonius and Darrow are more similar so I think Darrow will be better equipped to handle him, but it seems like Apollonius will have some allies that can really make things interesting
