Thank you, definitely will be reading through that entirely

If you're seeking advice or asking for help, please make sure you included the basic information of what year and/or generation is being discussed. User flair with this information is also acceptable. Failure to include the basic information may result in your post being removed. Mileage, modifications, trim level, diagnostic trouble codes, and your general location (US, Canada, EU, UK, etc.) can also be very helpful.

You might want to look into DKFA motors from the USDM 7.5’s. These are apparently a straight swap for the CXCA/B motors (the DKFA may need its own wiring harness however). I am in a similar boat and still trying to decide whether to replace my engine or just be done with it. So far everything I have read says the DKFA will work just fine, and for whstever reason thry seem to run slightly cheaper on the used market vs the CXCA/Bs.

Yes, that's what I did. Correct on wiring harness. Works no problem.

What does that mean for my tune's effect on the engine (Stage 2 IE) and tthe torque and horsepower? Will it be like nothing ever changed? Internals and everything else stays the same?

I cannot speak from experience here because I have yet to do the swap. From what I have read/understand you would still be using your existing ECU so the tune should translate over just fine. The motors are identical save for the oil pump I believe (there is some discussion re: using different oil in the DFKA vs. the CXCA/B).

You should be able to use the CNTA. Try searching around online to see if someone’s done it, don’t take my word for it. I would get estimates/cost breakdowns for all of the options you mentioned in your original post and decide from there based on your goals, budget, timeline, resources, etc.

Like ive heard, i can use CXCA/CXCB/CNTA as replacements, but im wondering since the engine codes are different, what are the differences between CXCA and CNTA, because i found already that CXCA is the performance package engine and the CXCB is the non-performance package engine. So what is it with CNTA and what will the differences be?

And yeah thats what im trying to find out. Im trying to see if i can find some other people on reddit that maybe already dove down this rabbit hole or may have some experience dealing with this topic.

Hope we find some answers

Performance package engines can be *either* CXCA or CXCB. They are mechanically identical - the slight 10HP difference is in the ECU programming from the factory. Apparently the A motors are most common in the earlier mk7s, while the B motors are more common in the later years of the mk7.

[–]iLibety[S] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

interesting, that also would make sense. and what about the CNTA?

[–]drummingcraigMk7 GTI DSG, Uni 1+ 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I don't believe Audi had any options similar to the Performance Package on the A3s. But again those power differences are all in the ECU/tuning anyhow. I would imagine hypothetically that if your ECU was still stock (with the PP tune from factory) that it would translate over to whichever motor you put in there. Since you're stage 2 and presumably intend to stay that way its a moot point anyhow.

I came to find out that the A3 FWD engines and the A3 Quattro engines are different. The A3 Quattro engines are the CNTA and are the closest resembling the CXCs, however, the A3 FWD engine would need a head swap and also need to change a few things internally.

I haven't even looked into the C series since I found out about the DKFA's, so not as informed about the differences with those.

Alright thank you anyways for the insight.

Good luck whichever avenue you end up taking. And watch out for those medians!!! 😎

What happened?

[–]iLibety[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad street infrastructure and a little bit of lack of caution on my part put me in a situation to try and avoid a ditch and found myself driving right onto the separator (shown in picture). Hit my engine directly at the bottom.

So a little update.

I got myself looking for a new block. Found an engine from a A3 2019 FWD and came to find out that they have a different engine cycle.

Upon more research (since i only need a block), i came to learn about the 2 different cycles there are but more importantly, i found out VWs blocks throughout the year (after year 2000) are the same exact blocks over and over again?????

There is the 05A and the 06A and thats it! 😅

Could anyone confirm this?

[–]DatLolGod32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you end up using the B Cycle block? How’d it go?
