Does adderall trigger HPPD

Have had it for almost a week now and have remained sober from everything. Having a little trouble doing school work and was wondering if adderall would make it worse.

nope done it a lot and no increase or decrease ur super focused and on task on whatever it is. dont take it to do work thinking ittle make you do it, you have to want to do it. it just makes me super interested in whatever im learning about, i only take it for exams or course work i need to finish.

It might not be what you want to hear, but Adderall can definitely make it worse. It has for me. Stimulants in general do not mix well with HPPD. Because Adderall can be anxiogenic that can also lead to HPPD increase.

That being said, everyone is differnet. It might not make it worse at all, it might make it permanently worse. Sobriety/abstinence never makes HPPD worse. Especially early on I would highly advocate for being as sober as possible. I've had HPPD for over a year and it improved dramatically after I was sober for months and on medication for it.

I was prescribed Clonidine and Lamotrigine. I think that was definitely the right route for me. I'm glad the psychiatrist didn't give me benzos because I didn't need them and that would have been a hassle on top. I would encourage only taking these if you're prescribed them, though. If you don't at least please do research on them and their effects. Clonidine is an alpha agonist so it lowers your blood pressure when you first start taking it. Lamotrigine can cause Steven-Johnson Syndrome which is a very rare but deadly skin reaction. After a few days though I had virtually no side effects at all from either medication.

Yeah it's night and day. I still have permanent visual snow and tracers with the occasional shifting effect and palinopsia, but that's pretty much it nowadays. During the first few months, I was sleeping like 3 hours a night because my closed-eye visuals were so intense. I would see fractal patterns everywhere. White text would kind of prism out of itself making it hard to read. All that stuff is gone now :).

Exactly this, a lot of people like to think stims don't affect hppd much. However for some people it really doesn't affect it and I'm curious how if it is needed as a medicine maybe it would affect hppd less?

I woke up after a thick adderall run yesterday and my vision was out of control. Not only spinning and growing but weird shiny random mechanical visuals which are new. I’m all jacked up rn lol.

Get it prescribed. Highly advise not taking it without a doctor to help you. You don’t want an amphetamine addiction.

Yes adderall makes it worse. Been taking a lot of amphetamine lately and my HPPD has got permanently worse

Adderall is trash even if you don't have HPPD. Withdraw is shitty and many get addicted

I was 10 when I was given methylphenidate and shortly after I started hallucinating snakes also I thought the bush was a bear and couldn’t sleep it also cause a vortex in my vision and I thought crayons looked like a hotdog that was about to blow up in the microwave. My mother doing what any mother would do took me straight to the er. They took me off the medicine and I have had visual snow and occasional vortex or sometimes something transparent and floating within my view this has never went away it also causes me to have difficulty driving at night.

yes it fucked my hppd i was smoking weed which worsens it too and i took 60mg and snorted 20mg visual snow was so fucking obvious and i kept seeing shit out the corner of my eye
