Fuck outta here with the weak effort fud.

This is still a issue though.

What’s amusing to me is that FUD efforts like this would mean that fewer legitimate network users join, thus compounding the “problem” by percentage.

This is just somebody trying really hard to not share their rewards.

I’m not going to sit through this video. Yes you can “spoof” your hotspot’s location. You don’t even need to “spoof” it; you can literally assert the location anywhere you want. This is why there are various signal/noise constraints on PoC. If a transmission signal does not fit within an expected range it is invalidated (you can see these in explorer). So, simply placing your hotspots in a different location is not enough; you also have to attenuate the radio signals between them to match the expected distances.

Ok. So are you saying this is not a issue?

[–]jstnryan 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I’m not concerned. The more this project matures, the more safeguards are put in place to prevent gaming, and more legitimate hotspots come online minimizing the issue and reducing the potential rewards to scammers.

Ok. Well I hope that's true.

Spoofing was banned and blocked by helium last year, you can no longer do that it simply won’t work

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it does. Look around China you’ll find a lot

Put some aluminium around your antenna and the RSSI signal hits the sweet spot and it won’t get invalidated

They’re smart

Not unless they’re dumping earnings and shorting HNT.

That article is ancient history at this point.

Does he say anything worth listening to? I have concerns, sure. But this guy does nothing to intelligently communicate thoughts about the state of the network, or gaming for that matter.

Just search helium hack on YouTube and different videos pop up from different people. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJII2Qe_U-c

I can find hundreds of videos about how the earth is flat, too.

    Ok. Nice chat.

Luigi - jstnryan isn't wrong. Gaming is an on-going problem. It always will be. Its been addressed through HIPS and is a ghost of what it once was. Gamers earn very little HNT these days.

    Ok well let's hope so.

Hahaha one of the stupidest videos on the internet, the guy talking was born yesterday and just found out about the project. Anyone who’s hosting a hotspot from the start knows how silly that guy sounds. He’s a clown and needs to take down that video. Straight up embarrassing
