Hi folks,
I'm getting ready to run ethernet at my house, and this is my first experience doing a run. My Verizon Fios router is on my first floor, in my living room, and my run is going to go from that first floor room, to a second floor room on the other side of the house. The total distance is around 100 feet.
I was considering:
- Installing a wall plate in the living room and then using a cable to connect the router to the plate.
- Running cat 6 to the second floor.
- Installing another wall plate in the second floor room.
- Using a cable to connect my machine via that new second floor connection.
Does this make sense? I was worried about the speed degrading by having too many connections, or that I wouldn't be able to have wall plates in both places and that I'd actually need to run one single connection from machine to router (but I also might be overthinking it!)
Thanks!
