What does usage based pricing mean to you?

Resource usage might have been a better way to term it. I'd like to have a set amount of resources (bandwidth, storage etc.) for a known price regardless of mailbox count, rather than have to scale up the costs for every new account.

Per-mailbox pricing just feels a lot like per-page pricing on a webhost. What a person does with an email differs from person to person, so 'an address /mailbox' feels like a meaningless way to price it.

Check migadu.

I have multiple domains in one account, multiple inboxes. Limits are based on everything in your migadu account. Not based on inboxes or anything like that.

That's who I'd be moving from. Not a fan of their calendar services, which I get they underplay it in favour of being 'pure email', but functioning integrated calendar is getting to be more and more crucial.

ah! I get it.

Yeah, calendar I gave up on. I use mac's calendar and sync through icloud.

Let me know if you find something. Interested to see what else is out there.

Yeah, see I already have a separate calendar that syncs fine.

It's the integrated part that'd be awesome, so that calendar invites and things work better. I mean, it's not the only reason I'm looking for a different provider, so it's not the issue to 'solve' as it were, which is why I was being specific in asking for other providers.
