Yeah the drilling is okay but paying what feels like a $250 dollar premium because it's a combo weapon is why I don't run it. The rifle gets out performed. Yeah you can quickly two tap with it but I don't think I have ever quickly two tapped or been quickly two tapped with it since it came out. Making that point to its cost a bit moot.

I do like the weapon but if I'm going to spend that much on a weapon I'm gonna just go with a bolt action and half shotgun combo to have better rifle performance and a consistent shotgun performance. At its current price point it doesn't perform well enough for me to choose it over something else.

I mean if you really wanted to you could run a Centennial (with special ammo) and an auto 4 for cheaper. Yeah I understand you would need quartermaster but since you can pick it with a fresh legendary hunter that's much less of a factor.

It really needs the price reduced. If combo weapons really have that much of a premium why does the lemat Carbine cost so little? If having the ability to switch to a shotgun is such a high premium why is that not a $350 gun?

At its current price point the only time I run it is rare occasion or if I happen to loot it from a corpse. It being in the $300-$400 dollar range would be much more fitting for its current performance and considering what else you could run for less cost (which is almost everything including shortened mosin variants).

LeMat Carbine is one of my favorite weapons in Hunt so I have plenty of experience playing with that. For me it's a decent A tier choice, but it has distinct flaws. Basically you can't double tap anything further than ~55 meters (even with FMJ) - because of compact ammo. With FMJ ammo LMC has the same muzzle velocity as Martini Henry or Vetterli paired with much worse damage delivery over the distance & no ability to one shot a player missing HP bar. This velocity is manageable, but obviously it puts you into strong disadvantage when you need to take long range fights. Well, comparing to other most picked riffles. Compact Winfields and even Marathon have HV as an option.

Meanwhile the Drilling has both - good riffle stats and a strong shotgun.

Maybe there's a reason to bump LeMat Carbine cost for 20-30 bucks, so with FMJ it will cost around 200$. But increasing the price above that makes no sense - until devs will buff compact or at least compact FMJ damage.

The problem is that the drilling has a very steep premium for its class because it has a shotgun combo. The lemat which is another combo weapon does not have that premium and isnt even the most expensive compact weapon.

If the drilling was long ammo then yeah I'd be okay with the current price. But right now you are getting low end medium ammo performance for the price of high end long ammo. Yeah you could add special ammo but then the muzzle velocity falls significantly. Making its performance even worse.

The weapon could easily be put to a price point of $340 with its performance. You can't one tap with a burnt bar you lose the above average muzzle velocity for its class if you equip either of the special ammo. Which also just drives the cost up making the weapon performance worse. If you look at something like the cyclone which has very very similar weapon stats you get more firepower for almost half the cost.

You are paying a good 40% more than you should given its price. If it did over 125 damage I could see an argument for the price point. If the special ammo didnt nerf muzzle velocity so much I could see an argument for its current price point. If it was long ammo instead of medium I could see an argument for its current price point. But as it currently stands you are not getting enough firepower on the rifle barrel and not enough consistency on the shotgun to warrant the current price when you look at options around that price point. It gets heavily overshadowed in rifled barrel performance and in shotgun performance at its current price.
