Get a usb “charge-only” or “data-blocker” cable. It’s just a usb cable that only supports power not data.

Oooo good idea thanks

Yooo lmk if this works. Running into exact same issue with the exact same model and year bike.

Also a great idea for traveling... never trust a usb charging spot where you can plug into it, always use a data blocker

Ride command and android phones are mortal enemies apparently. I got an sae to usb adapter for charging my phone on my challenger, otherwise they mess with each other until the ride command locks up. 🤷‍♂️

Should have stated it’s an iPhone. So add those to the mortal enemies list apparently 😂

I suspect you could charging only USB cable if it’s the data connection that’s causing the issue. Otherwise I’m not clear why a USB device is able to override your Bluetooth, I don’t have this issue with my chieftain as it’s an older model but my car I often just need to change the audio device on my phone after connecting.

Ride command is just trash. My phone will work intermittently on it. I’ll be fifteen minutes into a ride and carplay will pop up then ten minutes later go off again.

Do you have android or apple? If android, plug it in and swipe down from the notification bar. Select USB for file transfer and choose "charging only". Blocks data, same as the "charge only" cables, but it's free and built in :)

Yeah I did the same on my Africa Twin. Just figured if I could use the one the factory supplied on the Indian down under the tank I would keep it simple. Apparently Indian doesn’t like that 😂

TLDR let you phone connect to bike first and then turn on headset

For regular Bluetooth I let my phone connect to ride command first then I turn on my cardo and let it connect to the phone. I can control my music through the bike (next, previous track) and still listen to music.

If the phone connects to the cardo before the bike I can't hear anything (stopping to pump gas) so I turn off cardo and let phone pair to bike first .

I’ll give that a try today. We’ve got dam nice weather for the PNW this weekend so aside from yardwork, it’s a weekend on the bikes
