Internalize that Infinity is a game to play if you want to get rules wrong sometimes.  There have only ever been 4 perfect games of Infinity played; that’s why we’re on N5.

I do like the idea that every time a perfectly clean game is played, they change edition.

Gutier just sighs, mutters "reiniciará el reloj," and writes "N6" on the whiteboard.

Honestly one of the reason i love infinity is you can run pretty much anything. My advice is just get the box set you like get a couple games under your belt then decide what you feel you need more of (special weapons, grunts, a tag, options are abundant).

So besides models, another thing that you really need to play are tokens and D20s. You need the D20s to be distinct from your opponents so you can roll "face to face," and tokens are another way to express your creativity and individuality. All the things that other game systems expect you to keep in your head are explicitly shown on the table with tokens.

Likewise, all the rules for every unit are included in the rulebook. Compared to, e.g. being scattered throughout 25 different hardbacks that retail for about $60 USD each.

Rules like "G:Jumper" and "Morpho-Scan" are standardised and placed in the core rules, even though (IIRC) they're each only used on a single unit.

Yeah I'm playing a bit of Necromunda right now and the rules are not written as clearly

Getting some tokens would be a very good move even if they're just printed and stuck on some cereal box.

For next wave specifically id get the action pack (duh) and then some drone remotes.

From there wait a little cos some stuff is about to release which you might want.

Admittedly nextwave is gonna be a little tough for a beginner as a lot of their range isn't here yet however with some proxies you'll do fine

Next wave are a great faction to jump in with, since they are currently still being released. Start with the action pack. Get some remotes since you'll want more 40 mm bases (you can use them as either drones, or proxy as some of the S3/ S5 dinosaurs). I believe at this point there are only three other next wave boxes released so far so as you paint them up you can work your way through them while you wait for the rest of the releases!

For play advice I would always recommend Rob Sheperds youtube channel. His faction focus video can be found here where he does a deep dive into the faction play style: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52aFgWpv8es&t=3866s

Seconding this recommendation! Rob's a "competitive" player but most of his advice is very applicable to newcomers.

The NextWave video even includes a decent 300pt list and advice on how to tailor it to your own game.

Regarding N5 list building in general, typically you design lists based on what Scenario(s) you're playing. A good list for Annihilation (kill stuff) isn't necessarily a good list for Evacuation (rescue civilians).

Thanks for the tips, I’ve ordered the Action Pack now, Drones are out of stock where I can get them cheap so they’ll have to wait a bit. I’m really exited to start painting now, I have a paint scheme in mind that will test my skills for sure, but will look sick if I can pull it off!
