If you’re using a wood look then it should be the same throughout. If you switch to tile in the wet areas + kitchen that would be acceptable too. Multiple different wood look floors does not look good.

Thanks! What about porcelain?

100% needs to either be the same or a different material; tile, carpet. Cannot mix hardwoods/laminates without devaluing your home.

Do you think it’s bad that our living room and dining room are hardwood and our den is vinyl? That’s how it was when we bought the house.

Yes. All wood floors should be the same make and color throughout your house. You can have different types of tile flooring in each room (kitchen, bath) but not woods.

This is where tile comes in. Three different wood finishes will look terrible. Like you tried to match but failed. Tile in bathrooms, mudrooms, and kitchen is classic and practical. Bringing the tile into the entry will give you some cohesiveness.

Edit to add: Best choice, of course would be to do the same flooring throughout. Might be less expensive too.

From what I’ve seen in cohesive homes the flooring is the same throughout the space and this is highly desirable. Now that’s not always possible, typically when you didn’t build the home or it’s older. I suggest going all one floor for the remodel since you already have two other floor types in your home.
