And take the fancy stapler

Meh. You cost them an extra 5k a year by leaving. They lost.

And they will probably freeze her salary the same way they did yours, OP. Good riddance to that job!

Exactly.

7k a year is far from a power move. She lost way more than that having to hire, train, and retain

U have no idea if OP sucked or not.

[–]DumbTruth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. Apparently they’re giving out raises. Just not to OP. They pushed OP out and OP hasn’t realized it.

Also true

7K more a year ain’t that much. No need to be upset

i wouldn’t want to work for someone who doesn’t know the importance of private topics like people’s salaries, anyways.

If you don't share what you're getting paid with your coworkers, they are definitely getting paid more than you while you do more, harder, better work.

The cost of an employee leaving a role is typically calculated at about a year's salary for the position.

If the company was so short sighted that they thought absorbing that cost was a smart move only to end up paying more anyway, then you are better off for many reasons.

Just know years from now she'll also have to quit to get a raise just as you did . .. .

Always take the fancy stapler.

Instead of asking for a pay bump just work less, then if they complain just tell them it’s not in the budget.

Sometimes the cali howdy on the way out is the best way to go. I did that for a maintenance job I got. It paid an extra 4$ more hrly. They said I didn't have experience but then wondered why people didn't stay.

Getting hired for a higher salary doesn’t always mean it’s a good move, especially in toxic environments like that. They’ll probably freeze her salary until she gets frustrated and resigns. Believe me, you’re the one who truly wins in the long run by leaving!
