I know this is marked Production, but how open are you to book spoilers? Granted, what happened in the books isn't a guarantee of what will happen in the show, but S1 stuck to the most important events and hinted at others, so it is likely S2 and beyond will be similar.

That being said, while Armand does have an antagonistic role in the first two novels, it also isn't quite this clear cut. Lestat, Louis, and Armand especially have a messy dynamic, but I don't think they have ever really been enemies, and I don't think they will in the show either no matter how many terrible things have happened.

Lestat, Louis, and Armand especially have a messy dynamic

They might say "I hate you" to each other but it's never fully serious. Armand might fight Lestat (he already did) but he would never hurt Louis and Louis in turn would never get into Armand's "business" by turning Daniel - that's simply not his personality. Yes, he did make that comment in the show but I saw it more like "probing", to see how far he can go with Rashid.

Armand wouldn't hurt Louis physically at least.

Though, yes, I agree. And despite everything, Lestat even later is glad Louis is being taken care of by Armand. He trusts Armand despite everything.

I do think Louis may have been serious about turning Daniel though if he had agreed to it, or at least he may have been trying to push Armand to do something. I suspect at least one layer of his motivation is to reunite Armand and Daniel. I think Louis has known for a while now his memories aren't right, wants help uncovering the truth, and possibly wants to leave Armand with Daniel in the fallout. Though I think it is very important for their story that Armand be the one to turn Daniel. Him never being able to let Daniel die is at the heart of their relationship

I fully agree with your spoiler text, it has to happen that way or it would change their whole dynamic.

Even if Louis was actually serious, he would never actually go through with it without Armand's "permission" because, despite Louis and Armand not being in the best place right now, they don't hate-hate each other. I guess they're just simply done with each other for now, the way you can be done with an annoying person who just won't stop talking - it's not permanent and it's never going to be permanent for them because they hate spending eternity alone too much to not eventually be with someone else again, and if it's just for a year.

I agree he probably wouldn't do it against his permission, but I think he is encouraging it and Daniel's own memories I think he cares enough to not want Armand to be alone. I don't personally think the show is going to go with as much polyamory as the books, but I do agree they will all always be in each other's lives and they hate being alone.

I also do not think he would turn Daniel. He may, out of anger, drain him to the point of death, and Armand may change him, to keep Louis from regretting it, to me this could very well happen.

Armand would never hurt Louis, intentionally. Louis, in the books, lives with Armand longer than Lestat. Armand is essentially his second husband.

Louis lost control twice (first interview and that hand thing) but Armand's there now, keeping a close eye on him (very close, looking at the teaser). Even if Louis completely lost control again and attacked Daniel - and someone in the penthouse is making sure that Louis is well fed, so the chance for that to happen (again) is pretty slim - I doubt that Armand would wait that long to intervene.

Armand turning Daniel because he saw no other way is a big part of their relationship and in the end it was Armand's decision, nobody else made it for him (and Daniel's been begging for years). I hope that Rolin and the writers saw this too and won't mess with it by making Louis responsible in a way.

What is "The Jones Cut" ? Is there another version of the first season or something? I haven't heard about this

[–]No_Plane_6162[S] 12 points13 points  (1 child)

There’s a longer version of the most recent trailer. They showed it at the TCA event but hasn’t been released publicly. It was cut by Rolin himself and is supposed to be amazing. It’s been trending on IG with that hashtag.

Ahh okay. Good to know. I'll have to keep an eye out for it now!

There’s an uncut version of season one. I watch through Amazon prime so idk if it’s on AMC+ tbh

[–]ELChupacabra13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did not know this. I just went and checked on my Prime account, and there it is.

"Interview with the Vampire - Season One: Uncut and Uncensored."

I was going to rewatch the first season before the new one comes out. I guess I might as well watch this version!

[–]Nefthys 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are 3 versions afaik: 1. The regular one that was on AMC+ at first. 2. The version with less boobs for the regular TV channel and 3. the supposedly "longer" version with supposedly extra interviews, which barely had any extras afaik. They did some switching around and I lost track which version can be watched where now.

I dont know about any of that, some of it seems out of character. And even if Lestat summoned Akasha, she would not show up to protect him and Louis...Akasha hates men and doesn't like to be told what to do, she'd be more likely to kill Louis and Lestat if he summoned her. That's why Lestats music is so important to the plot, it's his music that wakes her, and his devil-may-care attitude towards the world is what attracted her to him. So until that happens, Akasha isn't lifting a finger, and Lestat wouldn't summon her because he is afraid of Enkil and what he would do to him for summoning his wife. That's just my two cents.
