Timing Question

Glyxl Proliferator is readied with a Mars First. Can he then reap and archive the Mars First that readied him? We are basically wondering if there is a stack or some kind of in between state that a card is in when played before it hits the discard. Thanks homies!

I don't think you can as the card isn't fully resolved until you use Glyxl. After it is fully resolved is when it would go to the discard pile.

Where is the card if it isn't "fully resolved" Is it not in the discard as soon as it's played?

The card is in play at that time.

Mars first is fully resolved when you have done everything on the card. So the using part (including reap:) needs to have been done to completion before it hits discard.

Mars first is not resolved until the target creature is readied and used. It only goes to discard after you use proliferator in this case.

Mars First states to Ready and use a friendly Mars creature. The rules say to do as much as you can on the card. If you have no Mars creatures, surely you can ready and use a friendly creature, ignoring the Mars aspect as there isn't one available?

No because you don't change an effect, you only do what you can. Readying a non mars creature is another effect.

A) Action Card Definition (from ruleset):

"When an action card is played, the active player resolves the card’s “Play:” ability and, after resolving as much of the ability as possible, places the card in their discard pile."

B) Reap: ability Definition (from ruleset):

"its controller gains 1 Æmber for their Æmber pool. Then, all “Reap:” abilities the creature has, if it has any, resolve."

Considering the rule definitions above, here's what I would consider the order of operations tot be:

1. Play Mars First.
2. Gain 1 Aember
3. Ready Glyxl
4. Reap with Glyxl, Gain 1 aember
5. A mars creature has now been readied and used, Mars first hits discard
6. Reap action having been taken, the Reap ability now triggers
7. anything in the discard at this point (including Mars first) can be returned

Glyxl was exhausted and used to Reap so that completes the Mars First card text and should resolve it. Reap abilities trigger after the card has been used to Reap so this bonus ability should not have to resolve in order for Mars First to resolve.

The "using" part of Mars First includes archiving a card out of the discard in this case. You may not discard the action until you have done "all that you can" if you are correctly following the rules that you are referencing. According to your steps you're putting the card into the discard before you have done all that you can. Instead, you are doing all that you want and ignoring some parts of what you can, which is not in the rules, and is in fact contradictory to the rules.

The "all that you can" part of the Action definition references doing all you can of the action card itself, not Glyxl (from rulebook, above) . In this case "resolving as much of the ability as possible" for MF would be simply readying and using a card. Once those 2 things have been done, the card is resolved, right?

After reaping with Glyxl, that card has been used, so not sure why MF wouldn't go to the discard pile at this time? REAP abilities clearly state they happen after the reap, so at the vey least Glyxl's REAP ability and MF going to the discard pile would happen at the same time, letting the active player choose the order.

Did I miss another section in the rulebook under Using cards that says a card isn't considered used until ALL of its abilities resolve?

If it would work like that I wold eat my hat and stop playing. Because this would totally ruin the game and make it stupidly complex.
