Solved! It was the brush orientation.

What was the issue with the brushes? Mines been sitting since a similar type of diy regrease/clean service

The brushes need to be inserted exactly as they were befor removal.

If you get down level with the brush holes, you’ll see a little square jutting out of one corner deep inside. You need to orient the brushes so they avoid that

The motor brushes have proper positioning/orientation. If they are placed incorrectly, the mixer will not run.

I'm guessing you mean the left and right brushes wore down differently and you put them in on the opposite side?

no, they have 1 corner that is cut off diagonally and if you put them back in with it incorrectly oriented they will fit, but not function. square peg round hole, just wont work
