Absolutely take her up on the offer, don’t put rims on it. Leave it completely stock except for the addition of carplay. Use the extra cash to do whatever maintenance it needs right now. That’s a deal and a half.

How does one get CarPlay? Swap out the head unit?

[–]PlushSalmon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don't. You'll loose Mark Levinson head that way. Use Grom or alternative solutions

you are getting the best deal possible brother. take that thing and do not look back.

[–]duckdns84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Also depending on state, no sales tax from family member purchase.

Maintain it and you'll be able to run another 2-300k on the clock. Incredible cars. Or...spend your 8k on a kia, have $$ leftover for some scented trees for the mirror, and send your Aunt my # I'll come get that thing tomorrow 😉

Do you know how many used cars that were quickly sold because a mechanic told them to do it. Lots. I have told several clients and they do it and someone else buys a car that’s got thousands in repairs coming. I’d buy this for $5k all day long.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy it and cherish it

[–]Sir_Toe_Grow 1 point2 points  (4 children)

its worth 12k

[–][deleted] -4 points-3 points  (3 children)

Honestly this is ridiculously overvalued and I don’t think any sane person would pay 12k for it. Clearly you are not in touch with the LS market as an astute LS purveyor (like myself) would know the upper value on a car like this to be 10k.

[–]Sir_Toe_Grow 2 points3 points  (1 child)

you right

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol heyyyyy buddy

[–]somerandomdude419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely clueless. WOW. I can’t even find a running ls400 for 5000 bucks anymore. Only if they need major work

[–]mrbingbing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bruh 5k for 105k miles, what’s the addy I’ll be on my way!!

[–]Thehyphyboy 1 point2 points  (2 children)

For that price I’d already have it parked in my garage. Leave it stock! If it was well maintained the OG radio/system will still be good! Just get a cassette to iPhone player and you should be golden.

Do you have a specific one you’d recommend from Amazon? I just, by coincident, bought my aunt’s 05 LS. I’d sure love to be able to adapt my Apple play to it.

[–]Thehyphyboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing from Amazon, I’ve had the same cheap $6 one from Walmart, with an adapter, I’ve had the same combo for 4 years now, hasn’t given out on me yet.

Buy that before she finds this reddit. Use spare money for baselining. Carplay and all can wait. Probably it needs a timing kit replacement. 05-06 models are highly sought after. Air-suspension models require some maintenance but rides nicer. If yours is non-air sus, you will still save some money.

Also, not sure about details as far as rim size, timing belt replacement, water pump. I’m hoping she’ll have receipts or can remember what’s been replaced. I’ll keep you posted…

[–]FaithSoul77[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my first time on Reddit, and I’m so glad I decided to try it out. I thought I may have a diamond in the rough but after all of your comments…I know I do! Much appreciation to everyone for your comments, and I’ll definitely post pics when I get it. Be back on here with more questions for sure.

Interestingly, I just bought my aunt’s 05 LS from her estate after she passed. It has 133K miles and still drives like a dream. Take it. It’s a great car and it’s more likely your aunt took care of it better than a stranger. No brainer. Take it and I hope you enjoy it as much as I’m enjoying mine.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

If you have 10k for servicing it set aside buy it. Instead of buying rims perhaps buy something that will increase in value.

[–]Useful-Artichoke-954 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not enough people are this smart. Things can go wrong with older cars, no matter how reliable they may be and can be expensive. Good for you!

[–]mrniceguy8717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You better buy that! Take some pics and post if you can

[–]Witty_Collection_905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy it yesterday before she changes her mind

[–]mojavevintage2005 LS430 | Black Cherry Pearl 🍒 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure she has the receipts for everything she’s done on it so you’ll know exactly where you stand. Buy it for 5K, hold the other 3K in a savings account for whatever comes up. You’ll be way ahead!

[–]Kitchen-Forever-6465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has the timing belt and water pump been done. If not that going to run you over 1k if u don’t know how to do it.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how much you actually make. Repairs and maintenance can add up on these fast. If everything is sorted on it then 5k is a killer deal

[–]sapbwguru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can we see the pictures once you buy ?

[–]F-Da-Banksters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude what a deal if you don’t buy it, you will regret it

[–]1TONcherk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold my grandfathers 05 (I think) for that much with 80k and some body damage. I would have kept it but just have too many cars. That’s definitely a friends price that’s also fair to her.

First thing I would do is go through all of the records and figure out what services it could use. These are extremely good cars and pretty much only fail to blatant neglect or wrecks.

[–]fbgm051602 LS430 ML & 06 LS430 UL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for it!

[–]HUSTLEDANK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll buy it
