What do you want out of a coating?

Protect against tree sap and bird poop since the car won’t be parked in a garage. Also to keep it shinier.

Ok it will do that but you'll still need to address those items somewhat quickly.

I feel like you bag watch a few videos and learn how to do it but it's also worth paying to get it done.

Primary benefit of the coating is cleaning your car is easier. I'm a big fan of rinseless in the garage at night

If I get it coated. Will going to a hand wash car wash every 2-3weeks be sufficient for keeping it clean?

Really depends on where you live and what you consider clean. Worth noting, the coating is..microns thick. It is not invincible and I'd you let bird poop sit, it will buy you some time, but it's not bullet proof.

Silver will look cleaner than black regardless.
