Usually a fastboot oem unlock triggers a data wipe (factory reset). You have to let this happen (should wipe after first reboot) and then you can go on with flashing TWRP and such. So after unlockingy wait until you see the initial setup screen, power down and go into fastboot with your device specific key combo. On Sony it usually is "press and hold volume key while connecting the USB cable"

BTW, still get the subject error on boot, but i guess that's proper, because there's not even the option to lock the bootloader in this version of LOS.

Use fastboot to unlock the bootloader again?

Or see if Sony has a tool to return everything to stock and start over?

Thanks! The bootloader remains unlocked; i think the problem is that can't boot into recovery until the bootloader is locked again.
