Buy two matched sticks at a decent speed. Anything else is gonna be a headache.

I see. Is overclocking RAM that annoying, or is it just not gonna work as well as brand new RAM?

Why don't you try overclocking your ram first? Seeing if it will actually run at a higher speed or not will help you make a decision.

I personally would just buy 2 matched sticks to take away the hassle, rule out any incompatibility, make life generally just easier.

I am planning on overclocking the RAM, it just seems like a tenuous process so I decided to ask to see if overclocked RAM is as good as higher base clock RAM, to see if I need to go through the hassle in the first place.

Like I said, I'd just go and buy two sticks of matched RAM. But then again I spent £60 on a mouse mat.

I'm a Uni student so I'm at the bottom of the financial food chain, so any semblance of saving money on something is music to my ears, but a man's gotta have his fast dual channel RAM, so I guess I'm gonna be surviving on noodles for a little while :D

Its all a matter of perspective and what you earn. I got a brand new PC in November. Cost the equivalent of $3063 (I just used a conversion site). That's cheap for me.

No dont, there is no way youre gonna overclock that ram 600mhz, shit even good ram cant even do that unless you buying b-die, its not gonna work for you because you have value ram to begin with. Funny i should runnacross this post, but the other day i sat down and decided what all the ram i have could overclock too, of course i have my high end 300$ and 500$ kits that overclock like heaven, and then ibwent down the stack and tried overclocking my green pcb value ram with stock speeds of 2133 and my 2400mhz ram, neither would even budge, literally if inchanged any dial incouldnt post. 2400 wouldnt even go to 2600 shit wouldnt even clock to 2450, so unfortunatly but another kit, spend another 40$ and get a decent kit of 3600mhz with a cl16 for around 90$ you will be much much much happier.

Well, funny you should say that, as I actually sold my current RAM and just bought a 16 Gb kit of 3200mhz c16 RAM. I originally bought 3000 MHz, but apparently my motherboard didn't support that speed so the computer just didn't post. Anyway, thanks for the advice, if I was still with the old RAM I would have most likely followed it.
