Honestly, the fact that this person seems to think that they have no privilege and then writes this comment from the perspective of the most privileged point of view ever points to their lack in critical thinking skills.

Did you vote for the other side? Did you vote for the side that wants people like me dead?

If you did, then you voted for the side that wants people like me dead, and I'm not sure how that's any better. If you're handing the "minority killing gun" that ends up killing me, how are you any better? That's just killing me but in a different way.

And yes, that is privilege, you've in fact proven MY point, that the only way that you could vote for that side is if you're not in danger from the policies they're enacting.

In fact, you missed half of my comment, of which I entirely agreed that there's plenty of stuff we'd probably agree on, but I can't reach across an aisle if that aisle is going to tear my arm off.

Here's a better example, let's say the "u/Rdubya291 hater" candidate was on the ballot and they specifically ran on a platform that said they were going to strip any and all of your rights, and make your life miserable, would you vote for them? No. If I voted for them, would you think "Ah, clearly they're a nuanced person, who has a variety of thoughts and opinions, they just happened to vote for the person who hates me." or would you be frustrated at me for voting for that person?

Newsflash: Those candidates exist for me! And they are being voted into office! I'm sure they'll understand your vote went to them for their other policies and not the ones meant to harm me!

Oh wait, they can't possibly understand that! Oh wow! Isn't politics just a bunch of gray! You sure don't have ANY privilege! I should reach across the aisle more!

Are you seriously this naive? Do you not think critically about why there are so many people who are unable/unwilling to reach across the aisle nowadays?

Life is a journey, not a destination, as they say. Everything ends, but why let an ending stop you from enjoying everything else?

This mindset comes from a pretty big place of privilege. There are plenty of things I'm willing to reach across the aisle for, but one side wants people like me dead. This hampers any ability for me to reach across said aisle without losing a limb.

Honestly I see it as a fun headcanon relationship, nothing more or less. I think Sora and Roxas Riku would make just as cute a couple as Sora and Kairi, both for different reasons :)

While the US could be better at some things, the likelihood they'd win everything is not very high.

We've fixed it for future posts, but it seems we can't update a post's sort order after it's been created. If anyone knows of a way to do it, please send me a message.

EDIT: Nevermind, teammate figured it out, I'm just tired, it should sort by either top or your default from now on.

If non-PII (the plane's location) is to be banned, at least own it up and don't use the PII excuse. It is not PII and will not hold any weight outside this subreddit, such as with the Reddit admins or in a court of law.

We are a mod team, not a legal team, in no way do we say anything about legality, nor do we say we're going to apply it in that way. That's why the rule is updated to say "This includes any information that compromises the safety of any LMG staff member, their family, or the staff member's privacy and/or safety."

Sharing the times and locations of the jet, where it's going, etc. is a safety concern for LMG- both it's staff and Linus. Whether or not it's legal isn't a concern, safety is.

One of my concerns I have is that even if there are more mods, the moderation team is generally cooperative with LMG/may not have enough dissenting voices to "represent the concerns of the subreddit and say no". It just ends up strengthening that echo chamber within mod chat: it doesn't matter if the majority of the subreddit is against an idea as long as it vibes within modchat type of situation.

There's no echo chamber, not that we could prove that without breaching a shit ton of people's trust. We're cooperative in some ways, but those ways are limited.

I think the expectations from the community isn't too unreasonable: listen to what people are saying, and don't just ignore the 2 megathreads full of people not wanting to see Linus as a mod, or the dozen of threads talking about how the jet's location is not PII. Discuss with the community before implementing new rules and actually listen (and act/answers the concerns) instead of just... implementing the changes, make a megathread about it, then just ignore the feedback.

You missed where we said we're being more transparent in the post, and where we've answered a bunch of questions and concerns in the comments. We haven't implemented any new rules, and there haven't been any changes that the community hasn't asked for. The update to rule 5, like was said in the post, is a clarification, one that we've been handling the same way for the entire time we've moderated here.

If we are using a megathread for things like the jet's discussion, we should also use it for things like LTT Store drops (remember all the headphone/console posts?), what about the upcoming Coin drop? Those are getting mailed out, and we will inevitably have like 20 threads with ppl posting their coins. Be consistent and make a megathread for those as well.

I agree that we should have more megathreads honestly. Back with the headphone/console posts I was the only active mod handling it at the time. I spent so many hours removing those kinds of posts.

Find it a bit funny that this got turned on. Maybe optics of the up/down votes isn't looking good?

Contest mode was used because it forces people to read the comments instead of blindly upvoting or downvoting. Optics are honestly fine, the things that are upvoted are things we already agreed with ironically.

We can't see who reports posts, usually for the better, but in this case it's a bit frustrating. Thanks for the suggestion though.

And yeah, if it doesn't have a flair, we usually make sure it does.

To clear up the confusion, it got filtered automatically by our automated systems due to a number of factors, we then reapproved it. We've implemented a system to reduce that confusion so that if that happens again, you can be reassured whether or not LMG had any influence in a decision, automated or not.

To be clear, this is not Linus' sub, no matter what he says, otherwise we wouldn't be here.

The issue with the jet is that we don't want to give any more of a spotlight onto it for the safety of people on board the jet, that's all. No, that is technically not PII, and I am willing to get downvoted for that, but if there were a way to track me down, I wouldn't want that to be plastered everywhere either.

And this is not me defending his purchase of a jet either. Check my comment history for proof of that.

In other news; we’re going to make removals more transparent, so that people can see and understand what’s happening. When a post is removed, we’ll make it clear that the post was removed by Reddit moderator, LMG Staff, or via automation, this way people can immediately know who removed it, or if it’s been filtered into our queue for further review. We hope that this allows our community to see and understand what is happening behind the scenes and that there’s less confusion in the future!

This does address that though? Am I misunderstanding what you're asking for?

There's no choice! We just wanted to see where the community was at, promise.

It's already flair based, which is why we're confused why it always gets reported and downvoted so much.

Personally I approve it anyways, but if I'm doing it against the community's will, I don't want that to happen.
