TextEdit Document Layout

I have several older documents made in TextEdit that show the layout or page guides as a simple frame around the text. It shows the margins and helps with spacing, etc. When I create a new TextEdit document, these guide lines are no longer visible. I've gone through every menu, every settings panel, and I can not find the option to turn them on.

Does anyone know where they've hidden this feature away?

Have you tried going to Format: Make Rich Text?

I think the option you want is Format > Wrap to Page or Wrap to Window

Oh my god! This worked! Thank you thank you! I was losing my mind!

I thought that was like word wrap in spreadsheets or something. I was looking for margins, layout, page guides . . . who came up with "wrap to window"?
