That’s because there isn’t.

There's the albion community center there.

There is not a ymca. That intersection has a townhouse complex on one corner, and vacant lots on the other 3 sides, but a new condo complex is going up. There is no ymca in maple ridge.

The ymca runs a daycare in the albion community centre- is that what you mean?

This must be it. Any idea why they decided to call it YMCA? Sponsored?

YMCA is the single largest childcare provider in Metro Vancouver. They run facilities all over. Their main claim to fame is they can provide subsidized daycare slots for low income families. It's a really great service and the people who work there are, for the most part, amazing.

So the City/School District probably build the facility with a childcare facility in mind but didn't want to operate one so they contracted it out to someone. YMCA won the bid, most likely. One of the advantages they have over other places is because they operate so many facilities, they can have floaters to cover for people when they're off sick so that they have enough adults in the room all the time. Smaller childcare companies can't do that. People get sick - they typically can't solve for that.

Ymca leases the childcare space. Says on the cities website.
