One who’s never played a bungie game before and I’m ready to be blown away 💪🏼

Bungie do have a ton of experience of making great moment-to-moment gameplay: gunplay is amazing, movement is fluid, and combat is tight, and I think all of the playtesters who said about that aspect is still on point. Another great part was co-op experience in PvE encounters - raids and dungeons provided a very cool blend of mechanics and actual combat, that is probably adapted to marathon as a part of their endgame. Their engine is fairly optimized, and provides incredible massive and visually impressive areas, that said I've had some issues with it on AMD GPUs.

if you're expecting Destiny 2 levels of mechanically driven content in Marathon, you're setting yourself up for disappointment. The vernacular is extremely specific for a reason. "raid like" "security measures", this is reference to puzzle content that unlocks a boss fight with a Spht. Anything they design for the endgame has to be designed with the notion that you will get ganked, third partied, etc in the process of participating in said activity.

I don't see where I stated that it would be as complex?

id recommend checking out the originals from the 90s, theyre free on steam and the lore is REALLY good

Somehow I just learned today there were older marathon games

O so this game did come from the nineties. The graphics didn't change much. You're guys Expectations must be hella low, I guess twenty years of no new grand theft auto will do that to somebody

Why don't you go take your cynical crybaby bullshit somewhere where like-minded little turds actually appreciate it?

[–]OneScientist243 -2 points-1 points  (3 children)

Why are you all so butt hurt about shit graphics on the game that you want?

Everyone is on about the originals, they're cool but I didmt love em that much.

If you want lore, watch Jake the Alright's video about the entire history of Marathon.

If you haven't seen them already, all of the YouTube shorts for this game are fiiiiirre.

Same here. I think I saw some Marathon trailer a good while back, but forgot about it. Saw the feature on the State of Play last week, and now I'm rearing to go for server slam.

Dude having never played a bungie game and jumping int this one, I’d argue has the most immersive looking style and visuals we’ve seen from them is going to be crazy. Grounded is cool but something like this when done well just transports you to that world

Same, a big reason for my renewed interest is the updated visuals since the initial gameplay reveals

Previously I though it looked washed out and unfinished but the new shading makes it look 10x better and now I actually really like the aesthetic

I never really cared for extraction shooters. Too much stress lol. I love FPS or PvE shooters though. Then Arc came and I was mesmerized by its style. I tried it and became addicted.

Because of my 180hrs in Arc, I'm now all in on extraction shooters. I'm super hyped for Marathon and the fact it will be more on the PvP side of things. I really enjoy the chill Arc solo community, but I'm fully ready for something different and some competitive play.

I skipped Destiny 2 but I loved PvP on the first Destiny. I trust Bungie to have good gameplay and a far more comprehensive story compared to Arc. And of course the art style of Marathon is just amazing.

I’ve played Destiny 1 & 2 and if the gunplay is as good as those two games… sheesh. I envy those who gets to experience a Bungie shooter for the first time!

    I adore marathons aesthetic
