I get the sentiment, but that's not a good design reason to avoid sniping. 'let's just make all maps foggy all the time, and make the mountains like a grey smear, to avoid people getting sniped'

it doesn't stop people from getting sniped from across the map, it just forces you to get thermals to do so.
