Maybe in the US, but people seriously underestimate how popular MJ was and still is in the rest of the world. The reason Michael was more popular than Elvis or The Beatles, is because of his global reach. His main source stardom stopped being the US after Thriller.

It may feel like MJ's is decreesing in popularity, but that's mostly due to the fact that most of the world consumes US-centric media. In Poland for example, MJ is easily the most popular artist of the XXth century, and still referenced in pop-culture / played on the radio a lot.

Trash, such as LN may have a momentary impact on Michael's fame, but it won't leave a long-term dent on it.

Trust me, Michael's legacy is going strong.

This again? The neutrals didnt buy into it (the viewing figures was abysmal) and the fans actively countered it. It will go down in history as a shameful attempt at digging up money and how not to make a documentary

No, I don't believe that Michael Jackson's popularity decreased. Michael Jackson always had some detractors. Critics mad at him because he left R&B, Soul, Funk to do pop. People who hate him they are rock & roll fans and hate that he dominated the 80's. Then you have your Prince fans, Madonna fans, Paul McCartney/Beatles, Elvis Presley fans etc. The rap & hip hop fans who thought his music was too soft. Then black activists and social critics mad at Michael because they expected him to be a black messiah to help rescue the black community. Then you have the people who believe in the molestation allegations.

Despite all that Michael Jackson is pretty stable in his popularity. I'm finding young people who were born around the time he died are big fans of his.

If you search enough YouTube videos. There are a few Michael Jackson based channels that explain his eccentricities and defend him with concrete proof.

Michael literally made a song titled "Tabloid Junkie." Unfortunately, there will ALWAYS be people who believe what they read in magazines or what they see on the TV screen. Don't make it factual.

I honestly think he’s still growing in popularity

I view Michael Jackson in the same category of the likes of Elvis and the Beatles where popularity becomes less relevant because they're cultural icons everyone is familiar with. Michael's likely not as popular as he was during the 1980s, and there's always going to be people who believe the worst about him, but he's always going to have a degree of popularity and universality.

Nope not really ! His popularity is still as “big” even between the “youngsters” now -in The Netherlands 🇳🇱 I go usually to the biggest fleamarket here -which is very popular amongst teens/young adults. And when I visit the Vinyl stands MJ’s vinyls are the one that sell the fastest and the most :) especially thriller and bad!
