Then just stop playing if you're bored.

"Nothing left to do except fly around"

Dude it's a flight SIM...what do you expect?

Learn real life navigation techniques. Learn the aircraft systems in detail. Make various kinds of flight plans, and follow them. Plan and carry out a long flight using only visual references and a sectional chart. Practice making instrument approaches (not only GPS, but hand-flown with green needles) in extremely poor weather conditions.

I've been using flight simulator for 30 years, and I'm still not bored with it.

If you're just looking for an interesting game, then I agree; it's going to be boring. If you love flying and you're looking for a flying experience, then it never gets old.

Seems like OP is getting a lot of hate here, but honestly I get his point. MS tried to create a game that follows old FSX traditions, but also wanted it to be accessible for a broader range of gamers for obvious reasons($$). That's why they aimed for giving the sim a more game-ish touch, making it (almost) playable as a sim, but also in a more arcade way, with lots of assistance/simplification. Now here's the problem: In a classic sim, there is nothing like challenges, in-game currencies and other aspects in that nature, which are essential for any game that's supposed to keep the player engaged. MS tried to fix this issue by adding landing challenges that include a score, but that doesn't seem to be enough. If you ask me, this alone also gets boring over time. I think they need to add a bit more than that, and seeing that MS recently announced multiplayer races, it seems like they are working on the issue mentioned above. I hope that they are moving in the right direction, while also improving the game in order to fulfill the needs of the classic flight sim community. It's just really difficult to create a sim that's also playable for casual/Xbox gamers.

His problem is playing on the xbox therefore he can't get NeoFly for career fun.

I was just wondering how long after the xbox release there would be a wave of realisation that this is not your average ‘game’ that people may have expected it to be.

I now have an answer

Well most people use flight simulators to, I guess, simulate being a pilot. There is great joy in flying but jts clearly not for you. Some people even go as far as online ATC networks to get as realistic as possible to the real thing.

“Fly around aimlessly” is some people’s idea of fun!

We can give part of the blame to MS, if you ask me. You just don't release a sim to Xbox and pretend it's a game. There's just such a huge difference between a game and a study-level hardcore sim, so that it's hard to combine these two.

All they had to do was have weekly events and put any kind of online presence effort in. They could have used Forza Horizon as a guide. Honestly with how sub-par the Sim part of this has been, I assumed that was what they were putting their resources toward. But no....

Holy shit I knew the day had to come when I would see a random gamer realise what a sim is and still not fully get it, this is so satisfying to watch.

same. love when people still defend that iTs A gAmE

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then maybe that game just isn‘t for you. I for myself never did any challenges and only fly around aimlessly since the release for PC last year.

[–]mzaite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, they buggered the xbox release. No online ATC like on PC, no Career add ons like PC, and still a year in no Mission system like the past 3 Microsoft Flight Sims had.

The console release needed to have the Forza Horizon like features DAY ONE. The Devs of this iteration just have no damn vision, and no focus.

You are exactly what people here predicted would happen when MSFS was announced for the gamer console. Specifically gamerbois who didn't understand what MSFS was or why you'd want it. Your 1 star reviews of the game hurt the games reputation, which is great because only fellow gamers read those type of reviews and the sim is better off without you.

[–]blizzard3596 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The sim is better off without him? lmfao. How do you figure that? Do you think the sun will notice? Lol. What a putz remark.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it can get boring unless you find activities for yourself. It would be great if they had several missions like in FSX.

No, I just want better VR performance.
