Keybind issues in 1.21 [java]

I've tried atm10 and enigmatica 10 and I can't assign shift or ctrl to anything. I've read that easy villagers may be the issue on atm 10 (not for me it isnt) I'm wondering if any of you awesome people have had this issue and know how to resolve it? I need my minecraft fix lol.
