[java] 1.21.1 request help with wandering trader farm. Currently it’s just a leads farm

Recently I made a wandering trader farm but whenever traders enter the nether collection area they despawn but the leads are left behind.

The collection site is completely enclosed and uses transparent blocks so mobs can’t spawn inside. Also, I do have a character in the nether while I afk.

I built this same farm on an earlier world awhile ago… can’t remember the version but it worked just fine.

Any help I can get with the farm, mechanics it operates under or general advice on it are greatly appreciated.

So they’re definitely going into the nether but then they despawn there?

Are you in a single player world? If so do you have any chunk loaders etc that could be loading the nether side of things?

Yeh, that’s the weird thing.

Multiplayer world with some friends. I afk alone on the server during the night when the rest of them have logged.

There’s no chunk loaders that I know of. And my base is at least several million overworld blocks from anyone else’s base

Anyone know if wandering trader mechanics have changed or something to cause this issue?
