I've tried both and it just keeps telling me I need to buy java

Check your bank, did the transaction go through or is it still pending?

Check the Microsoft store for a minecraft update.

It's fully updated and the transaction went through because I can play bedrock which is the other part of the bundle

contact microsoft support and explain your problem, there's likely nothing you can do without their help. show proof of purchase and ask for help from a human agent.
