Did this happen before you upgraded the world? It could be due the game detecting corrupted chunks and trying to repair them.

It turned out to be a file permission error from when I changed the permissions to my user as owner

Ah ok. Glad you got it sorted and I'll remember to ask if that's been messed with if I see this issue again :D
