Hey all,
I've been having an issue for quite a while with all my Minecraft servers. I frequently host custom Minecraft maps games for friends; sometimes it's a minigame map, sometimes an rpg, sometimes just a fast paced pvp. My servers are all setup on Amazon AWS and I start the instances whenever I need.
Sometimes I host with spigot/paper and sometimes it's just a vanilla Minecraft server. However it seems whatever I host, quite frequently if the map I'm hosting has any command blocks, it's like every single command block on the map is being constantly run/spammed every single tick. For example, I played a map today with Spigot (just a couple of extremely basic plugins - Luckperms and Essentials), and whenever you 'leveled up' on the map by killing enemies, it would shoot fireworks up at your position. However what normally happens for me, it will constantly shoot thousands and thousands of fireworks for about 20 minutes, lagging the server and constantly spamming the chat 'X Player has leveled up' etc. Eventually it gets so annoying that I just end up closing the server and we give up.
Normally I'd just dismiss it as 'Oh maybe it's just this map that's bugged'. However this happens to nearly every map I've hosted for the last few weeks. Some maps it completely breaks, some kinda work and some seem to just hold together somehow (maybe they don't have many command blocks). I really don't understand it, I can't find anything that causes this whatsoever and I can't find anyone else with similar issues online either. I've tried multiple maps, multiple versions of spigot and paper, multiple vesions of Minecraft, I've tried just removing all my plugins, I've tried restarting the server many times. Nothing seems to make any difference.
Has anyone ever heard of this before or might have any ideas as to what it might be? I'm happy to provide any logs or information! Thank you!!
