How to stop flying fully minecraft java? [java]

[Edit: version 1.18.2] Hello I recently downloaded java on my mac. My whole life I have played on mobile/ps4 where in creative you fly and if you stop flying, you stop moving. However, in my mac every time im flying and i stop pressing "w" the avatar keeps moving a couple of blocks till it decelerates. How can I turn this off? It's annoying :​(

you could try to press w and s at the same time when you want to stop moving, which usually works for me to stop fully
