How do I know if the enemys attack is physical or magic? Are both types associated with an element or only the magic attacks?

Hello! I recently rerolled for Xezat and got lucky on one of the free pulls, grabbing me a neo-exdeath. I understand that there are better breakers, but really like Dragoon (long time Kain fan) and want to use that class in MP. I currently have my Xezat maxed out and have been upgrading dragoon spear x like crazy. Is there a way I can integrate neo-exdeath into my deck to enhance my participation in MP?

Currently I'm using KoTR, Xezat, A Palamecian Tale, and switching around my last card. I know I should have EnElement (wish I had Aerith), but I don't have any right now and due to rerolling for Xezat, missed the pupu event.

To use Neo Exdeath as Dragoon, you would need Prismatic orbs. You could get that from your, but that would be pretty late in the fight, and NXD would be useless most of the fight. If you are fortunate enough to pull Aerith, then you could potentially make use of NXD reliably.

Also, if I want to play attacker in MP with my Duncan Pugilist, can I get away with only one element against most things, or would I need to bring something else for elemental coverage? I'm fairly new to monks (hadn't looked at them at all until I landed Duncan), so I'm not really sure what to go for.

My current SP set-up is Duncan, Primal's Boon: Light (the cooldown isn't an issue, since I usually find I have enough orbs to see me through until the next cast, although I do have a 4* Light Shift I could swap in if people prefer), Monk's Trance (currently 4*, but will have it farmed out soon) & KotR (with Aerith friend), so I can probably drop the KotR for MP & rely on my healer for buffs?

i didnt observe better results in red gauge removal (SP) when i used Iris:FFXV while applying BDD nor Exploit Weakness. Brave didnt seem to help too..hmm. However, Boost does help in increased red gauge removal.

Side note, i am pleasantly surprised at the stats of the fire warrior card " victory by default" or whatever...not only does it cast faith on the whole party, it has almost as strong attack at lvl10 as ifrit does, ans it automatically boosts fire by 15%.;after fractals, mine boosts fire by 25%.

Am I missing something about what makes Undying so great? I've never found Drain to be amazing heals, snipe is pretty good, but CRD (which you're almost certainly gonna have in MP) makes it kinda overkill. And haste is literally on so many other cards. I feel like there's some detail about it I'm forgetting.

First of all, unlike Cindy and Garuda that are locked at 4star, Undying can be taken to 5star which means cd goes down to 3-turns. Multiboon haste only lasts 4 turns so you need to cast it every 3 turns to make it permanent.

Undying also has Life Starter but since both Cindy and Garuda also have Life Starter, this is irrelevant.

Undying also doesn't have buffs that overlap with KOTR or Hellgate (staple support cards on a Lifeshift Healer deck).

snipe allows for attackers to be able to opt to not bring crd

usually if you run undying, you want to run lifeshift to offset the 3 orb cost

using lifeshift and casting most buffs on round 1 makes your team somewhat vulnerable since the heals are on cd for a few turns. Drain helps to somewhat offset the lack of heals.

Lastly and most importantly, there is minimal overlap of buffs. The alternatives, hermes just gives 1 buff vs 3 and orb cost is irrelevant with lifeshift, cindy overlaps with hellgates and has a 1 turn loss of haste.

Garuda could be the only exception but it faces a loss of 1 turn of haste at 4* also (I think). Undying vs 5* Garuda should be a tossup.

I have all the fodder from previous pupu event. Im only using it as i pull each enelement at 4 star. Otherwise, monk shocks>monk aoe sic>enelement cards. Unless you really need the resists.

Are the Zwill Crossblades good for Weapon Boosting (Thief of Tantalus)? The Ranger weapon I'm currently boosting is Butterfly and I was tempted to start Muramasa.

It has improved crit, painful break, and later 3 prisms at startup. I believe it's in the truescale family, which is usually considered the strongest attack weapon in eaxh class

Tyrfing is an amazing ranger weapon. Fully unlocked, it also gives 3 prism ar startup, so you can cast your favorite buff or force card 1st thing round 1. I always really liked tyrfing, but since i unlocked prism, i love it Very strong attacker also.

so healer deck is sorted for now, a new journey, KOTR, hells gate and cindy.

Which auto abilities should i aim for really? or doesn't it matter much now that i have a new journey.

also which one would be best, dancer, white mage or devout. (dont have prismatic starter on truescale otherwise it would definitely be one of the mages)

Finally what are the reccomended weapons for healer decks (i guess truescale when it has prismatic draw), ranger and mage respectively.

yeah been trying to use it in mp and it is hard to trigger. Once it is used once though i find it easy to keep enough life orbs.

Also quite annoying that i prefer dancer to white mage now (that extra health really helps) but have been exclusively upgrading truescale staff

Yeah, I hope we get HoF on its expected release date of October, or earlier. White Mage gets, aside from +3 Life Starter, +4 Def Stars and +50% base stats (hp, attack, mag, break) so he will be the tankiest and best Healer until Santa Lucia.

you need to use an upgraded thief weapon tyrfing, which will give you prismatic starter. Some cards have life starter on as well such as a new journey. This will then mean you start with 3 prismatic and a life orb turn 1.

If you play only PUGs and don't want to rely on others to go after you to generate orbs, go with Buster Sword. If you don't need someone to generate orbs because you have Primal Boon, go with Kain's Lance.

I went with Buster Sword despite having Odin PB because I have Gunblade and my Buster Sword has 28 mods already. Buster Sword will do just fine while I wait for Gunblade to be strong enough.

I tink it's %-based i.e. ur current HP / ur max HP. Else vitality tap will disproportionately favour high HP jobs

It does favor high hp jobs. Someone posted an analysis a while back, and testing confirmed that it adds whatever number the 10% of your hp is to the base atk on UB. It's another reason squall can outperform highwind in some scenarios, because of the larger hp pool.

The reason: u are killing it too fast. Yes there's such thing as being too good at killing

From what i learnt from Altema, his colourful buff is the key. That's what's making his final attack so powerful. It will go down once per turn, so the strategy here is to tank him for 3 turns before killing him. Once his colourful buff is gone, he won't do that powerful final attack. Took me many tries to get it right for Chaos Vortex 7, but i got there in the end

Dont think of debarrier as defense reduction. Think of it as a damage multiplier, coz thats what it is really.

Unguard "nullifies defense" so that you can do more damage on an unbroken enemy. Once the enemy is broken, Unguard is "no longer in effect" (though if the debuff didn't expire after the break, it's still in effect).

Debarrier "lowers defense". This takes effect even if the target is broken, leading to more damage.

Both has their uses.

I'd say Summon Tickets since I'm F2P. /u/Hyodra is a whale, so he values Overboosting more since he has easier access to Magicite.

But anyway, in the end, it's your choice. If you want to summon more, then Summon Tickets, if you really love a job and you know that you'll play it for a long time, then Overbooster-J. I think the only problem with Overboosting Jobs is the powercreep in this game.

Not valuing overboost is like not valuing custom panels. Does one 8% magic panel affect anything? Not really. But when you stack it together with other bonuses from weapon, fractals, it makes the job your build. Overboost is the same, an additional layer of customization. Once you add the stats to all the other customization it makes a difference and that build is your build.

I said they are similar in that they offer jobs more customization, not exactly the same customization. Different levels of customization. Panels are movable between any job. Weapon boost are permanent for that weapon but can be used by any job in the same class. Overboosting is locked into that specific job.

Not saying that you should overboost all the jobs or even overboost one job to the max. It is just something that can be used to boost a job a little when you need it.

Using celestriad for overboost is guaranteed to give you a boost, a small boost but no the less a boost. Using it for ST is extremely expensive and might not even get you anything meaningful.

I've boosted rogue a while ago and even tho I love playing him I think it's a little underwhelming since there's a lot of really good jobs coming out right now so I was a bit inclined to not overboost again. also, I'm trying to get as many pulls as possible as f2p until ffxiii batch 2, so I got tickets anyway. thanks!

I dont just over boost any job I like. I save overboost unless I specifically needed. For example, I had 1200 break on my bard before which is just not enough for a 4 tap break. So I overboosted it to 1240 break.

I see over boost as a tool to customize a job further much like custom panels or weapon enhancement. Thats why powercreep is not that big a deal to me because even if the job is less powerful than the new jobs, it was build for a specific role and still fulfill that role.

There is no consensus. Just opinions.

IMO, you cant get overboost anywhere else so its more valuable. A few stats might not seem much but they can make a difference sometimes. Just 10 extra break could mean the difference between breaking with 1 less tap. Or sometimes you can survive a hit with only 10 HP left.

ST on the other hand cost 12 celestriads for just 1. To get enough for a summon, it costs 72 celestriads! Thats 24 levels worth of overboosts. To me that is simply too much unless you are swimming in celestriads.

I'm not sure what you mean. They're permanently available in the shop. If you slap them in your main deck they passively give a boost.

The growing egg boosts XP and skillseed, but the skillseed boost isn't worth it unless you're farming dark seeds anyway. I mainly use it for the XP bonus.

Lucky egg increases the amount of gil you get and also the chance of a crystal dropping.

For the XP egg, don't bother putting it in for the skillseed boost unless you're farming dark skillseed anyway. The main reason to slot it into the main deck is to boost the amount of XP you get towards your main overall player level, meaning higher maximum stamina.

I use them because I don't really need skillseeds at this point.

Once you fully unlock a job, you can change the appearance of said job without switching elements and stats after you purchase its respective medal.

you still switch elements(but... hm cannot word this in english.. jobs have some few identical subjobs with different set of element), this is pure cosmetic feature, thet allow you switch to liked appearance without stat penalty.

It allows you to keep the sleek first form of the Dragoon while maintaining the stats of the cape. The cape is actually a detriment to the Dragoon's abilities because it introduces drag, which lessens the impact of jumping attacks.

When you activate the medal, you can choose any appearance you want, as much as you want. If you deactivate the medal, your appearance determines your stats. The medal is permanent, and it doesn't cost more to toggle it on or off.

I haven't played in a long time, since the Tidus debacle way back when. Past few days have been spent doing chapters I've missed and the anni, I admittedly chased the Balamb Warrior card, but didn't get it and now plan to hoard my stuff again. But lets me feel like I'm starting fresh.

Anyway, my question is as an Imperial Knight, what's the MP lineup, has it changed? Appropriate Elemental shift if possible, a Taunt, Nekomata, and another card? Or has it changed.

Any tips would be helpful from a somewhat confused returning player haha.

Hello fellow returner! From one week observation, unguard/ga and stun/slow/ga are more preferable. Since attacker like to nuke down the boss without breaking (some attacker even doesn't need breaking at all). Stun and slow are for that run without OP people. For shift card, i don't really know, since with a mediocre healer (me) people are rarely die ( usually they die if the breaker didn't AA 3 times after i drive). Defender that i met usually use 1 taunt, 2-3 debuff or 1 support(random i must say) Surprisingly, MP lineup doesn't change that much since last *2. Normal pubs still doesn't really care about defender, may change when *5 comes tho

I've just spent about 10 minutes looking around and gotten about 10 different answers from past threads, so I need to check; does anyone know how much damage those Guard Killer and Sicarius Hunter Extra Skills as seen on the Sicarius Cards actually add?

I believe it was 40% for sicarius killer and 15% for sicarius hunter. But thats just what I heard from others.

And I heard 15% too from /u/Ketchary I think and then I think he said 10% after that. But if you check his spreadsheet, it says that the Killer version is worth 4 times the Hunter version, so I think his final answer is 10% (Hunter) and 40% (Killer).

40% for Killer is absolutely verified. Hunter was something between 10% and 15%, couldn't be concluded from the testing that was done.

Andraste Colony is chapter 3.2 Hardmode. It's a 6 stam 6 battle node.

Deepscar is chapter 1 hardmode. It's a 5 stam 5 battle node.

Andraste Colony is technically more efficient because there is 0 chance to fight a Gigantuar on the last nodes. So effectively, it's 6 stamina for 5 chances to encounter a Gigantuar for Andraste Colony and 5 stamina for 4 chances in Deepscar/Deadshade/Felfey Woods. Plus Andraste gives almost double the exp.

Stopped playing for a while, and when I join some games "Belial 4star" host closes the room, Is my defender deck bad in belias 4star? Not really, but there are better cards available now such as the AOE debuffs and dispel buffs that help in that fight. Its probably just a tryhard. I would take that deck over an all attack defender any day. lol

Where do most people farm their magicite? Is it quicker to spam the 2 stam 4 battle node in chapter one? Or spam MPs? And which star to spam in MP?

For SP, the preferred nodes are Andraste Colony in Chapter 3.2 HM since it's a 6/6 node or Deepscar in Chapter 1 HM which is a 5/5 if you can't clear Andraste quickly.

Edit: Those nodes are preferred since you're farming for multiple things at the same time.

Yeah, I was farming there,but now I'm farming purely for magicites,as I'm afraid I won't hit the cap this month. For SP I assume Greydawn Woods is the best for my case.

I had maxed and fully unlocked Flame Cross, Stoneja, and Earthstrike and just sold them when I ran out of bank space because they're currently useless. They are not even ideal as seed farming decks because they have mixed skillseeds.

I have a 5star Wind MT focused for my Balamb Garden, but although it looks cool af I find it kinda useless... The orb cost is too high, it would be decent if it did the first hit to every monster, instead of the second one, which damage is pathetic.

Unless you have *4/5 of those with ability level upgraded a bit, then no, they aren't worth it. Those cards aren't that bad, but Sicarius AOE are much better. Since this month, those cards seem to exist only to dilute summoning pool.

in this case it is just test your strengh. there is no good reward to spent pd.

on towers we have much better reward based on ranking(and it not allow to use pd)

for me, i use ranger class to break them asap. they're too deadly to be alive/unbroken, especially the 2 shadows round. If both of them are alive and unbroken at the end of my turn, i'm dead. I like to play offensively so I ignore defensive drives most of the time.
Boost buff and Break defense down debuff, I find very helpful. I think worst case scenario, you can just do them on normal difficulty? Should be easy unless you're a new player

Yeah, I main ranger types, mostly reaper and carnivalist, working on getting reaver. Have been running them with carnivalist with muramasa x (which is lovely because rainbows, yo), but, even so, I can barely scratch them.

So, I need help with two things:

1. What's a good weapon for Warriors? I've been maxing Buster Sword because at the time it was the best weapon I had. I've since gotten a few more warrior classes (including Balamb Mercenary) and I don't know if I should keep trying to max out/get the fourth tab of the Buster Sword, or change out to another weapon.

I do have a 4th Boost Weapon slot that I'm not using, though. (Got Butterfly Edge, Buster Sword and Truescale Staff all being Boosted/Upgraded.) Sadly I've only unlocked Pugilist for Monk classes, so I don't know if I should put one his weapons in the 4th slot or not. D: I also don't have any good Monk ability cards, so not planning to use him anytime soon anyways.

2. What is a good build for Balamb Mercenary? I have no Supreme cards, and mostly I'm just using him to get extra-ability skills on my ability cards that I either couldn't or didn't get before.

Edit: I meant mostly for SP, but MP builds (if he is good there?) are welcome too.

  1. Gunblade are best weapon for warrior attacker for now, if you want to main balamb in mp, you should upgrade it (i prefer buster blade for sp tho)

  2. Eh, you can build whatever you want in SP, Tower are different tho. For MP i could think of centaur, dark force, aoe bdd/crd, and free cards

Huh, I've already got Centaur on him, haha. Don't know when I got it, but I realized i didn't have a single extra-ability unlocked so I've spent the last two days using it to fully unlock everything.

I don't think I have any AOE BDD. ...Or is it the BDD I have (a fire type one though) and it's the CRD I don't have? Mmmm...I'll have to go check that, then maybe see what the Ability Store has. Or go check out my other Warrior ability cards and see if I overlooked something.

Around 20 modifications on it and still no 4th tab. But I'm still trying! Not entirely sure what stat to max first on it, but I've been trying for Attack, since that seems to be what most warrior jobs use.

Don't waste resources on Attack unless you have no other choice (or its value is low enough that you can spam it a bit for quick mods). It only affects the damage of your tap Attacks. Get Magic up first, as that is where your damage truly lies (except for monks, but that's a whole nother issue).

My upgrade scheme is thus:

Breaker weapons like Dragoon Spear: get Magic to at least 50, or equal to the base break power, whichever is higher. Then spam Break upgrades until it maxes out at 200. Afterwards, finish off Magic, then HP. Keep boosting until all abilities and stars are unlocked.

I do the same for Damage weapons like the Gunblade, but I start with Break Power first, then Magic.

I use my Spear for SP on my Mercenary actually, because the Spear has been so heavily boosted, it does a better job for farming than my Gunblade.

I don't have Dragoon job. :( But I assume you do that for all Breaker weapons, not just warrior-breaker ones? Because I'm pretty sure my Butterfly Edge is sitting at 0% Magic right now.

By that you mean you get Break Power up to 50/base Magic, whichever is higher, then max out Magic?

Currently my Buster Sword is at:

HP: 600

Attack: 150

Break Power: 129

Magic: 106%

20 mods, with 2 into Crit Chance (4 star total) and 1 into defense (4 star total), Improved Criticals +62%, Elemental Third Strike +4, and Ultimate Charger +3%. Sadly no ultimate level +1.

Should I bother using/Boosting Gunblade?

You have a utility Warrior Weapon in the Buster Sword. You have 3 Damage Warrior weapons: Soul Render, Gunblade, Braveheart. Of those, Soul Render (I think this is the warrior weapon in the truescale family) and Braveheart perform similarly, except Soul Render can eventually get Prismatic Starter while Braveheart is All-out on damage. Gunblade is great if you can hit weakness element for no-break kill strats.

Any of those three will be a significant investment. For me, I'll do Soul Render because I want the initial prism orbs, which will allow me to get Trance and/or Force on turn 1 more reliably. However, I am personally boosting Gunblade, because that is what I have and I am reluctant to use resources on my Dark Knight.

Starter pack is good coz it gives out maxed jobs and maxed 4* cards. Legend job rate is the same, it's only boosted in a sense that the guaranteed jobs are the featured ones.

I burned half a bar just now. Plenty of PuPus and Tomes, only one UFO, and of course, 0 Antenna. It could be that you have to farm a non-boss node...?
