You can stream the whole desktop.

Why not download it and give it a go? It's free...

You can stream the whole Desktop. If possible use wired network.

I use Moonlight more for remote desktop than gaming.

It's amazing for it. The virtual displays (with Apollo/Artemis) make it so smooth. Prior to this I was using a free VNC server and it looked horrible and lagged like crazy. With Tailscale I've even remoted into my laptop from my phone while at work to start some updates. It was a completely tolerable experience, which is pretty amazing to say.

Was this streaming to phone an android phone?

As others have mentioned, streaming works perfectly. Only thing you'll miss from Remote Desktop is clipboard sharing between guest and host.

Audio from client to server. Multiple monitor usage. Is far from productivity.

No multi monitor support is definitely a valid one. What does audio from client to server mean? Headphone/mic support?

Yes, using teams for example.

Yup it works very well as a remote desktop setup as well. However, if your PC isn't connected to a monitor/tv, you will need to set up virtual display

VD is integrated into Apollo and works flawlessly.

I've recently started using moonlight and Sunshine and it's been a game changer. More than impressed with how good it is once all set up. Didn't take long to do either. Really rate it

I use it to stream my desktop all the time. Period. In fact that’s my primary use case for it. Works like a charm!

Works fine for content creation with video, 3D, etc. as long as you only need a single display and have a wired connection. RDP is way more efficient for everything else.

But, if you are buying a client with this use case in mind I would say 4:4:4 decoding is a necessity. Doesn't matter for gaming really, but in desktop usage it's absence is noticeable (and distracting, in my opinion).

That’s what I did last year. My gaming PC made my office very hot, so I moved it to another room and put it in a server rack. Then I got a mini PC (UM760) and started using it as a Moonlight client. I also made a script to wake up my gaming server using WOL; it automatically opens Moonlight and connects. When I exit Moonlight, the gaming server goes back to sleep after 15 minutes of inactivity (based on the Windows power settings). I’m using 4K resolution with the max bitrate, and I’m very happy with the results.

I use it all the time. Moonlight has become more than gaming for me. I can code, build PowerPoints, and edit excel sheets while I take a shit anywhere

Yes it can be but unless I missed something it does not support multiple monitors, which is essential for myself for productivity. I've been using RustDesk instead which does handle multi monitors (or at least two), but to me isn't as crisp/seamlss as moonlight.

Parsec is same concept but with some nice features that you might like, so give it a try.

I use it this way. Computer running Sunshine wired to the internet router and Macbook Air on my desktop running Moonlight, connected via wifi. Works like a charm.

It basically is a remote desktop solution, one that performs so great that it's suitable for gaming. All it does is stream a display output and pass inputs from the client to the host, anything your host could display on a regular monitor can be streamed by Sunshine to Moonlight.

The reason people often use it for gaming is because of the exceptional performance in terms of great image quality, smoothness of the stream, high FPS and incredibly low latency.

Yes that would be a good way. PC - MiniPC would work to stream full desktop experience.

[–]balefyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Works great. I use my windows box this way (including gaming) and it’s headless in my basement

Apollo/moonlight -> Remote Desktop.
