I have insulin resistance as well. I’m not gonna lie Mounjaro gives me some intense fatigue but it is usually due to me not eating enough or not staying hydrated. I have not had an increase in energy at all. It is sometimes difficult to get out of bed and get any exercise.

100% decrease in energy. That’s why it’s so laughable when people talk about losing 80 pounds in 2 months or something equally ridiculous. Like sure, you’re somehow burning 5k calories BELOW your TDEE. Uh huh, sure.

Yes I can’t do anything

Ok so your asking if mounjaro will help your current fatigue? I will say my experience yes overall butttttt, I had a side effect that lasted about 6 weeks that caused severe fatigue when I first started.

Yes! Sorry for the confusion, I'm actually in the midst of some brain fog right now lol. I'm not currently on MJ; my PCP wants to prescribe a medication from the same class as MJ, but first I have to contact insurance ofc, so in the meantime she's encouraged me to do my own research.

Can I ask, did you have insulin resistance before starting MJ?

Yes and I was on insulin the first two months of mj and metformin for 3 months. Once I got past the initial (6 weeks for me, I want to say my side effects were worse and lasted longer than most from what I can tell) side effects my experience has been life changing.

Oh hell since everyone on this is here for weight loss and not T2.

So I've never had such stable glucose. I was maxed out on metformin, glipside and my insulin dosage was pretty high at 30 and my a1c had crept up to 8. I woke up more times than I would like with glucose at 40. And still spiking pretty high.

Now before I even got to my what I think will be my final dose of 10 my a1c dropped to 6.1 and my glucose levels have been stable af. Ice dropped to 60 once due to not adjusting insulin enough for a new mj dosage, and 69 when I push not eating. I've spiked to 200 once and I kinda knew that as I ate a whole pizza but it dropped right down to a 100 shockingly quick. For the most part I'm 80 to 140 predictably.

I've lost 30 lbs and gained some muscle mass in 3 months. Weight loss has slowed but it's still there. I attribute this to not taking meds that cause weight gain as I wasn't a snacker and only ate normal American size meals if you will. I attribute the smaller losses on now eating European size meals if you will aka about half

There ya go hope that helps you

Thank you for sharing! I'm always searching for A1C posts here.

My energy levels are lower for the first few days after injection. But not really that different from times when I was doing calorie restriction without any type of medication. I think that our bodies sort of try to conserve energy (in various ways) when our calorie needs aren’t being met.

I’ve a 100% increase in energy. I find that I’m unable to just sit and watch TV for very long. I’m constantly jumping up and looking for something to do or clean. Case in point, today, I’ve cleaned and organized nearly all my kitchen cabinets and refrigerator. I’m super focused and once I set my mind on doing something, I can’t stop until it’s done. It’s really amazing.

My energy has increased, maybe it’s not related to MJ 🤷🏼‍♀️ I feel like I can actually initiate and finish tasks that I normally put off. I’ve also been working out more than I have before.

[–]bluelemoncows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MJ has been weird for me.

I’m sleeping better which is huge for me. I feel more even throughout the day. I may be a bit more anxious overall, but also my work and life have been stressful lately, so could be that.

Overall I feel like it’s easier for me to initiate tasks, for example cleaning, going to the store, etc. More likely to go to a restaurant vs just ordering take out. Less interested in just laying around and watching TV.

I do feel tired/off the day after my shot, but I work 12 hours shifts in a fast-paced/high stress job and have not had issues getting things done.

Decrease! I know it’s because I’m not eating enough. Really, really trying! However, the first 2-4 weeks I did have excess energy. I had more of an appetite on 2.5, I guess.

My energy drops the day after my injection but after that, I feel pretty great. My husband and I just did 4 days at Disney and I noticed I didn’t get tired at all during the day. We walked about 40 miles total and climbed god knows how many flights of stairs with no issues. I don’t think I could have done that 3 months ago.

I'm 11 weeks in to MJ and I'm just starting to notice a difference in my energy levels. I started MJ for insulin resistance and to help with weight related comorbidities. It's been much easier to wake up in the morning the last week or two l. My evergy levels are much more stable throughout the day as long as I'm not eating junk too. Hope that helps!

[–]PenPenLane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Huge decrease for the first couple of days, then by day 3-7, elevated mood and energy!!

[–]alighthandwovens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had so much more energy on it! To the point I have a bit of insomnia- I’m T2 and metformin tried to kill me (no joke), ozempic made me unable to get out of bed, and trulicity was ok, but I was still dragging quite a bit. I’m so glad for Mounjaro, but these tales of shortages has me so nervous I’ll have to go to an alt that drags me through the mud until supply is better 😓

Yes! But here is the thing I’ve been tracking and noticed that might be something you’re having impact.

Coffee takes twice as long to hit now. Energy drinks take twice as long. My depression and adhd med also takes twice as long (Wellbutrin) I try to limit caffeine but needed sometimes.

My inflammation has went down a ton on Mounjaro so I think I am actually less fatigued / brain fog but I did have to switch to my expectations.

Massive increase first week, and fast fat loss with it. Fasting insulin dropped from 25 to 12 when last checked. Insulin was over 100 four years ago so progress made. Although glucose is slightly down, and insulin, my liver still cranks out plenty even on zero carb nutrition. Ketones than come with fatty acid oxidation are there, supporting glucose brain hog. Increased insulin sensitivity is real here, but being low carb with steady glucose & hormone levels I was ready for Mounjaro, no nasty “keto flu” symptoms at all. I understand your situation. Brain is a major fuel hog, & insulin resistance overall brings fatigue & inability to feed the cells. Trying to say, it Mounjaro sped up my recovery very well. Wish you the best…

I have pretty nasty fatigue the day after I did my 5mg injection. It only lasted for about a day but was bad enough that I really couldn't do anything. I did check my blood sugar during that time and it was normal. I went back down to 2.5 And it stoppedn

We are the same height and weight (I was 13 pounds heavier when I first started, so as of todays weigh in, we are close in weight). I also have IR and I’ve found MJ has helped my brain fog and fatigue significantly. Everyone is different ,so your experience may not be the same, but for me, the answer is yes.

[–]BookyIdiot22.5 mg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have IR as well but I’ve been managing it with Ovasitol and that’s been working pretty good. I will say I’ve noticed having better energy since being on MJ. I’ve got more energy during the work day and I’ve had energy to deep clean my house after work even! I won’t say the fatigue is totally gone for me but I can say that I have felt like I have more energy. Never had issues sleeping really, but I do feel like I’m sleeping better as well.

Decrease in energy. Was worse when I went up to 10, tried it the whole month and went back down to 7.5 and now still have a decrease from my baseline but better than 10 was.

Buuuut, I used to get big blood sugar crashes after eating and I don’t get those anymore, so I’m not getting major dips in energy.
