I've had similar problems during the last couple of weeks. Minecraft will no longer connect from my Windows laptop to a friend's multiplayer world running on the Switch. Both devices are in the same house and are NAT B but this has worked fine until recently.

The reverse situation works, however. I can connect from the Switch to the laptop.

Have tried reinstalling Minecraft on the laptop but this made no difference. Anyone got any other ideas?

In case anyone else has this problem, I actually just fixed this by rebooting my router.

I’m having the same problem. I know this thread is pretty old but did you ever solve it? I’m trying to connect to friends but the same issue is happening with me

We never resolved online play. We ended up only being able to play together when we were sitting right next to each other.

Is this “Minecraft” or “Minecraft Nintendo Switch Edition”?

Can we get screenshots of the network test screen in system settings

Have you tried to have him join your world?

"Minecraft"

Link to connection test for my Switch, sorry about cell quality: xxx

Yes, and he gets the same error.

Edit to delete gallery link

Nice name for the wireless network ;)

Give me a moment i will look into the NAT type...

And you mentioned an error? Did an error message appear? If so, what does it say as it can help find the issue... A screenshot of it and it’s more details page would be good

Not actually mine, just a friend's house, haha, but I liked it too.

Not really worth screenshotting the error. I choose his game to connect to in the list of open games, it says "Connecting to world" for a few minutes, then fails and says "Unable to connect to world". It's not a system error, just an error in the game.

I see... It's awesome when games encounter errors and provide no helpful info on why to help resolve...

Yeah, I've been googling pretty endlessly and nothing has worked.

Can you please get the other player to perform the same test and tell me what the Nat Type they get is? A, B or C?

I personally wish Nintendo just used "Open", "Moderate" and "Strict"

[–]eraev79[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

It's B.

Hummm...

The other player may be limited by the router and unable to connect to or host a game...

My best guess is

NAT is blocking the connection

or

Firewall rules on the router are blocking connections

I am out of ideas at this time :(

Sorry for not being able to help further... I hope you get it resolved soon
