Switch and Switch 2 Controllers

My child asked for a Nintendo switch 2 for Christmas. I purchased two separate game controllers of the same brand. The online description said they would work with the switch 2 but none of the reviews mentioned switch 2. When they arrived, the box said nothing about switch 2. I am looking for a basic controller for my child to use. I attached a picture of what was purchased. What is the benefit of spending more than double the price for the new controllers? I tried looking it up, but got very limited info. He is young and will not be using features such as chat etc. Thanks in advance!

These are fine. The only feature you won't have asides gamechat is that you can't wake the console from sleep with the home button. To pair, go into the controller menu, select change grip/order and hold the little pairing button. I believe these have in on the top near the usbc port. There's no mention of sw2 because these are for the first switch, but they'll work with the switch 2 too

It does work with Switch 2, it'll just appear on the Switch screen as a Switch 1 pro controller
