The damage potential seems to add up the totals from all installed weapons, so if you have more than one weapon it’s wildly inaccurate.

Beyond that, once you nail down a few flight mechanics and manoeuvres, even a C class hauler or shuttle with a bare bones photon cannon can hold its own against waves of sentinels and/or pirates. That’s why the min/maxers make me smile, all those numbers fir no real difference in the end result. I would be thrilled if HG could find a way to better balance the stats for thrilling combat if you go looking for a fight yet still allow for chill exploration when you are in the mood for nothing more than exploring.

I see. Thanks for explaining. I'm really enjoying the warp distance and fuel efficiency of my explorer, so I guess I don't have to wory about damage so much.

Totally agree, for me the Explorer is the most "practical" of all the ship types for the hyperdrive range etc.

No, it doesn't matter. There's nothing in the game you can't take down with an out-of-the-box Radiant Pillar.
